| | Display issue with Paradigm 522 (or maybe nothing) I recently started using the Minimed Pardadigm 522 and I'm very happy with it. I've had it about three weeks. This afternoon I noticed some quite distinct blotching/streaks on the display similar to the rainbow effect that you sometimes get when the sun shines through a window. I did go for a run earlier with the pump clipped to my waistband and I did sweat quite a bit. It's possibly nothing but it's really freaking me out. I'm just wondering if anybody has had anything similar and what could cause it?? |

| | | Your display should be pretty clean and clear Gembo. Turn the light on your pump and take a good look. If there is blotching (and your not wearing any polarized glasses) I would call Medtronic. I have seen the blotching when I am wearing glasses that have the antiglare coating on them. Without them, they were fine.
I hope this is the issue with your pump. If not, call Metronic and get a replacement. |

We had an unusually bright evening in Dublin and it could have been that. The light is gone now and I don't see the blotching. I'm due to go back to the Diabetes team next week anyway as I'm still adjusting basal rates etc so I will show it to them then.
I think I may just have 'new car syndrome'. I don't think I've ever been attached to anything that cost that much money before. |

| | | Is it cold in Ireland now? I know when my pump gets cold the screen tends to act funny.

| | | If my pump gets warm I see the rainbow effect sometimes. The MM is a bit heat sensitive. just have a sit for a while and set the pump next to you on the couch, a table or anything handy and the screen should return to normal.

| | | It seems to be a normal occurance.
My manual is in French heres what it says (I've left some in French just in case I mistranslate)
'L'ecran peut apparaitre deforme ou avoir une apparence irisee '
(the screen can appear deformed or to have a rainbow appearance)
if you wear polarised glasses, under exposure to strong sunlight , under extremely high or low temperatures.
take off the sunglasses
place in the shade
make sure the pump isn't exposed directly to heat (that is to say near to a heater) or cold.(wear under clothes on very cold days)
Not necessary to return the pump ' cest une characteristique normale de ce type d'ecran sur d'importe quel appareil' |

| | Mine will often "go rainbow". It seems to most be with humidity, such as if I'm sweating and it's close to my skin. I know what you mean about new car syndrome, but I'm sure you'll stop stressing about it after a while. Remember it's made for pumping insulin, not it's decidedly low-fi display

That is a relief, I'm glad it is a normal occurence. I suppose I'll have to wait until I've dropped it a couple of times before stop stressing. |
