Smile Wish Me Luck

Tomorrow, I will be going on my 1st camping trip since I started pumping. I'm not really that worried but I am going very prepared.
If I'm not back on here before Thursday afternoon, have a good weekend and see you all on Sunday night or Monday.

Enjoy yourself, relax, and have lots of fun. I might have to do the same this summer.

Have a great time Cin. I have camped many times and never had an ounce of trouble. Changed a set by campfire!

Thanks everyone.
I do plan to relax and have fun. Work has been one headache after another and I need a break.
I will definitely miss you all.
Nancy, I'm hoping I won't have to do a set change while there but I know I can if I have to.

Have a great time!!! We just went camping last weekend and it was a blast! Enjoy the r&r and don't worry about the pumping part of it. It actually makes it a ton easier I can't imagine lugging tons of syringes and my vials out to the campsite..lol

I try to get up camping every couple of weeks - I live between Denver and Boulder and it is a pretty short drive to some spectacular places.

I usually go up fishing, and may have a couple of buddies with me, but about a month ago, I went with a guy who had invited me to join him and about 18 friends on a "woodsie". One of those deals that young folks do to just go out in the woods and drink and party. I probably hadn't done that in about 30 years, so I decided to do it.

Saturday morning (after a long Friday nite), almost everyone in camp went hiking - or into town to go to the liquor store. I was left in camp with a sweet young thing who had just arrived that morning. She and I sat around the campfire and visited for a bit, and I showed her my pump and she was really interested in it. She was afflicted with gestational diabetes with both her kids, so she knew what I was talking about when I talked about my BG's.

Anyway, that was the 3rd day of my infusion set. I asked her if she minded that I changed my catheter right there in front of her, or if I should go in my tent. She assured me she didn't mind - she had plenty of medical problems of her own, and she was ok with it.

So I put in my new set in about ten minutes, and she was talking a mile a minute the whole time I was trying to concentrate. When I was done she seemed surprised.

Later, she told me she thought I was talking about a Foley cath - you know - the one that goes in your bladder and is inserted ... well, you know. She was a real trooper. I laugh real hard every time I think of that, and this thread made me think of that.

Thanks for the laugh.
