Pain and swelling at cannula site

I use the omni pod and was wondering if anyone has experienced any swelling and pain after removing the cannula/pod. I have like a knot under my skin where the cannula was.

I don't use the Omni Pod, but I had an itchy knot last time I removed the cannula -- I had "accidentally" left if in for 5-6 days, which I've never done before. After 3 days I have never had a problem.

Probably infected. I have had one or two get like this and your best bet is to use some antibiotic ointment on it. If it doesn't start feeling better pretty quickly, you need to get it looked at by the doc.

That would mean the site got infected. I've had sites like that and sometimes they can take a week or two to heal. I actually have one like that, the site felt great and worked perfect, however, once removed it was pretty white around the canula. I applied neosporin the first few days but it's still semi-hard. From experience, it takes a bit to go away and this is mainly because a normal good infusion site will take about a month or two to fully heal.

I'm on the pod and haven't had that happen to me but I'm fairly new too. I have had itching sometimes around the cannula site, but it's usually on the 3rd day.

Have you ever tried 'Prid' salve. I use it everytime I get an infection and it usually pulls out the infection in a couple of days . Just put some on a band aid and put it on. Its been around for several years. Try it, you'll like it.

Over the last year I have had several such incidents. One which required a visit to the Dr who perscribed an oral antibiotic to clear up the infection. What irks me to no end is that I am VERY carefull about site cleaning and infection control before and after insertion and I still experience them from time to time. So I just continue as I always have and deal with them as they arise. I would say about 1 in every 10 gets some reaction, but thats just me I guess.
