Kinda Funny

I dunno if the pharmacist that filled it was more anal than usual, if the doctor who called it in is more precise, or if my insurance somehow had to do with it, but I've never had a script say this before. That being said, I only come close to 61 units if I'm on prednisone, and won't hesitate to go over it then, but am usually closer to half that.

I wonder why 61 was the magic number......would have thought they might say 60 or 65..weird..

My Dr once wrote me a lantus script that said 1-2 units per day... the pharmacist came out to the front and said...'eerrr...is this correct?'

Each vial is 10 mL (and 1000 units).

Mine used to say "Do not exceed maximum of 80 units daily"
or what?

Now it says "Inject 90 units sub-Q daily"

Even worse the Levemir I use for non-pump days or back up in general says "Inject 300 units sub-Q in case of pump failure"

300 units???!!!! I don't think so. I take like 50 for a day. I think it's how the doctor writes it and how the pharmacist interprets it. Lots of places want a daily total to verify that you do in fact need that many (9 in my case) bottles for 3 months worth. What they don't get is that it can vary. They need to just say..."Use as directed" and be done with it. And as for the levemir, I think it was because the script was for 300 unit pens. It all just makes you wonder what else they mess up on...

Heh, mine says:

Quote:
Use total daily dose of 60-70 units via continuous insulin infusion pump as directed
I don't use that much either, but the prescription is written for that so as to give me enough insulin to get through a month factoring in wasted insulin in tubing/leftovers/etc. I used to eek all the leftovers out of the tube/reservoir and put them back in to the vial, but after I had a vial go bad, I quit doing that.
