3rd broken clip on my mimimed 772

I've just had my 3rd plastic clip brake on me within the last year...

at over 20 bucks with shipping I'm getting tired of paying minimed for a product that doesnt last very long...
https://www.minimed.com/mmStore/appl..._key=C-MMT-612

any suggestions?

The clips keep failing in the same area....

Hi Kevin,
So sorry to hear about your bad luck

With my Animas, you get the leather pouch (which looks like a cell/mobile belt holder) and the "Low Profile" clip - which is the tiny attachment on the back of your pump to clip it on, well, anywhere!

I don't know minimeds well, but you may be able to find an external manufacturer that makes leather cases for them.

Maybe worth a shot to have a look around.

Hope you get better luck soon!

My dollar store cell-phone holder works like a charm.

My MM clip has never failed me in two years.

Thumbs down

I'm currently using the low profile clip I have (it just doesnt protect as much not does it allow the pump to swivel... which is a pain when I'm driving and need to check the screen)

What I'd really want is to have one made out of a metal material like aluminum... but thats going to cost an arm and a leg... for a manufacturer to make a small number of metal cases based on the plastic one...

I mean Minimed charges 17 bucks for a part that costs them what..... 45 cents to make in China....

Got any pics of the pump in your phone holder?

Unhappy

Quality is fine... thanks for the pic..

however that wouldnt work for me... I'm very active and need to be able to see the screen by just pulling on the pump instead of taking it out of the case... thats why the minimed clip works so well for me... it's just they keep breaking

You can add me to the list. I really like the clip/holder/whatever but mine only lasted about 3 months before it broke.

Have a look at a few other Cell phone holders. Some have a see through front so you can look at the screen. Shouldn't be too expensive.

I'll look but going to be hard to find that fits, has a clear window, and has a closing strap that doesnt let the pump fall out... and also swivels

I just bout a cell phone swivel. It lasted 2 ****ing days!

I'd love to find a sturdy swivel holder for both pump and cell.

I believe the obligatory "Please keep your eyes on the road while driving" message is in order here.

Now that we have that out of the way: I am on my third MM 722 clip right now; I got my 722 late last July, and that holster broke and would swivel around like Micheal Jackson in November. I called MM to complain, and they said sorry, but buy another one and it comes with a six month warranty. The one I bought broke in March, so I called and they sent me a replacement free of charge. I can tell right now that it is going to lose its ability to not swivel around like Michael Jackson on speed very soon. I think my problem is sleeping with the holster, I'm thinking when I lie on it, I am somehow wearing out the mechanism that locks it into place. Anyway, we'll see if MM upholds the six month warranty on the replacement holster as well...

I would continue calling the company until you get a free one. When I was on the Animas IR1000 I went through over a dozen clips (in two years). There was one part they got tired of me calling and sent me 5 clips at once. I think they saw enough calling and complaining about it so they sent them out for free. I'd do that with Minimed as well, call and demand it for free. It's the only way they know it's defective. If you just buy one, they think you are buying a spare, not a replacement.

That's not a bad idea, but then again: that MM holster clip just plain sucks. No other way to put it. Mine broke in about the first month I got my pump, in a situation it should not have. The default slimline clip is about 20x better and luckily for me it fits my purposes, so I just chucked the holster (after a few days of feeling annoyed at how easily it broke, and how obvious the plastic is inferior).

So, just to say others have found that particular holster is lousy. As for an alternative for your needs, the swivel is going to be tricky to find along with everything else, as you say. Good luck.
