I was out riding the other day and was wondering if I ever crashed and broke my pump what would happen. Is that something that would be covered under the warranty? or would I just have to bite the bullit and get another one. Is the pump insured under homeowners or is there a sepearte rider I would need for this instance. I don't plan on crashing but with all the time out on the bike I figure it might happen someday. I ride with it clipped to my shorts in the back under my shirt so it is slightly protected but you never know.

My homeowner's insurance covers medical equipment of less than $10k under our normal policy (Pemco), however a lot of others you have to have a separate rider or umbrella policy (which can be cheaper than an added rider).

I don't believe that anything beyond normal wear and tear is covered under the pump company's warranty, but I could be wrong. When I went swimming with my Cozmo, they sent me a new one since I couldn't see any cracks but they had to have been there...

I just insured mine on my house contents ins. It's insured as a specified item (Named) Better safe than sorry

First of all, for me it has been pretty difficult to break--yes, I've smashed it in a car door. I did break the rubber on the buttons once and Animas didn't hesistate to send a new one. Personally, I'm not going to waste time worrying about it breaking. If they refuse to cover it under the warranty, they've just lost a good customer over something that costs peanuts to them. Think about this from their business perspective. You also have to consider that when you buy a pump, you are paying for more than one pump. Pump companies know that pumps break. That said, without reading all the details of every warranty, I don't think they are legally obligated to replace the pump under such a circumstance although it would be stupid not to.

if animas support hasn't been able to help me solve any issue big or small over the phone they have sent me a new pump i think it's all covered under warranty.

when i upgraded from my animas Ir1000 to the animas 2020 they gave me a trade in value of $700 for my IR1000 and that thing was in pieces.

Yes I broke it once on vacation. It fell onto a tile floor and went wacko. I called the Mini Med people and then fedexed me a new one (refurbished) the next day. I thought it would never get there. I believe the one I had was under warenty.
I had another one that got water logged when I fell out of a canoe. Luckly I now have a spare one. I didn't return it for credit when I got my new one. I will now carry my spare one when I go on vac.
