The
iPhone apps store seems like a good idea. It got me thinking. I wonder if the same concept could be applied to pump design.
Create a pump that can have it's software updated through a computer link. Then, as the company releases new features sell them for $5 of whatever through an app store. Features may include a food database, customizable alarms, a password protected child lock, a math calculator, finer dosing options, etc, etc.
The current version of the pump would include all current features, this would just be for upgrading features. This way, people don't pay for features they don't want, and features can be realized as they become available rather than waiting for a new upgrade every 2 years or what not and needing to exchange the whole pump to get it.
