Why did this happen?

I am so off but anyway, getting to the point. I went swimming in the pool, my bg's were off after I woke up with a 58, and all that so ya know rebound yuck, so I was swimming after I had ate lunch I check at the 2hr whatever I was 171 ok no biggie technically I was 150 when I ate lunch, so ok...whatever, so I connect for a bit, and then go back in again, then I am feeling very funky, like dry mouth all that maybe I am just over heated or what, but I pull the bathing suit up a bit and low and behold

BLOOOD IN THE TUBING.....

So I check the bg again 178 ok, well only explaination is that ya really don't need too much insulin anyway in the pool so I am remaining the same number....OK, well dumb me boluses a very little to see what the blood does and it all goes back in and ok whatever by this point, we were there for like 4 hours so I am ready to go home, I get home I am down to 150 again, ok so I am doing my thing around the house decide ok, I am gonna eat....

NOPE back up to 180 so I just said screw it and put another set in.....

I swear diabetes ruins all the fun....I hate it today more then ever....usually....everyone is drinking margaritas eating loads of pizza, doing whatever, I bring a stupid turkey sandwhich and drink diet soda errrrrrrr

Don't know when the blood in the tubing happened but I obviously got my bolus for lunch otherwise for 40 carbs I would of been a lot higher then 170 two hours later and I was only swimming by that point for like 30 minutes I was waiting for an hour or so after I bolused so if I did get low swimming It wouldn't be a severe low...

I dunno....I am kind of mad, because In the water I drop and in the hot sun I drop....and non of that, so I am thinking I don't know what I am thinking but now I am sooooooooo mad....and annoyed that I cannot eat dinner...I am a starving lunatic and it's 8pm and I have to wait to make sure the stupid new set is working....and if I eat late i am always high all night long, so I am stuck today....

ok vent over....LOL..feel better now, I hate blood in tubing

Cheryl, I am so sorry you had a tough day. I have been having several of those recently too. You are not alone. Summer seems to cause all sorts of issues with the D due to different schedule, meals, weather, etc.

I too couldn't eat dinner tonight when I wanted. My husband and I drove an hour to have dinner with my brother and his wife. I tested 15 min before getting there so I would have time to come down if I was high. Result...356. What the heck? My post from lunch and hour before had been 162.

Anyway, I wasn't coming down so I ended up taking a shot not knowing if the pump was the problem. I had to sit there and eat a few carrot sticks while everyone else ate pizza. I finally ended up eating when I got down near 200. I am 139 now but hoping that I'm not high in an hour or two.

I agree that this diabetes thing is the pits. I hope you can figure out what happened or at least that it doesn't happen again. I know sometimes we all need to vent. Hope it felt good.

Yea, I ended up eating carrot sticks and cheese since I primed extra LOL.....I was 119 after I put in a new set...

Sorry you had a bad day, YIKES 356, I would of ripped that other set out errrrrrrrrrr, I do not like getting that high at all poor thing......I am so sorry...

On my other forum someone told me that I might of been in a capilary, so when I was disconnected to go swimming the pressure of blood pressure changing I guess...It makes sense because one point Brent(my hubby) threw me in the deep end, and I was not ready and I had swallowed a bunch of water, and I kind of struggled just getting to the side of the pool, and then my head was spinning which is why i got out the first time....and he kept telling me to check, but I knew it wasn't my blood sugar....it was no oxygen to the brain, I guess my bp must of spiked....because I had to sit out for a bit....and then after a bit is when I checked my set and blood was in the tubing....

NOTE to self....I am sticking with sils when I swim it seems that if I am going to do anything aerobic, or active the sure t's I use don't cut it, it always happens, if I am extra cleaning at work, or too much hanky panky my sure t konks out on me somehow grrrrrrrrr LOL
