Looking For Feedback From Animas Ping Users

I'm thinking about upgrading to the Ping because of the Meter and Pump Talking to each other.

Before shelling out some cold cash I would like to here about your likes and dislikes.

I currently using the Animas 2020 and the MiniMed monitor with MiniMed's BG Meter that talks to the Minimed CGMS.

So should I save my cash or should I go for it?

Thanks

While I like things like the color screen, pump colors, pump-meter communications, and the ability to bolus from the meter, I'm not at all pleased with the delivery speed.

I've experienced some major issues with sets due to the overly rapid delivery of the Animas Ping. The pump delivers either 1 unit every second (yes, I wrote that right), or 1 unit every 4 seconds (still, way too fast - at least for me). The other pump I have (Cozmo backup that I received from a friend) delivers insulin more slowly, so my sets don't stop working after a day to a day & a half like they do with the Animas. My BGs are also way better when I use the Cozmo.

I'm not trying to deter you from the Ping in any way. I like some of the features of the pump, but I think the overly rapid delivery speed is a Major flaw.

I am using the Ping, upgrade from the 2020. I really like it. I do find bolusing from the meter to be a very slow process. I guess that is the price we pay for the convenience of not digging out the pump. Mine was a free upgrade because I got the 2020 a couple of days before the Ping was approved for use. I have not had any problems with it, only had it about 3-4 weeks.

I guess my only gripe would be that I can not disable the bolus reminder 2 hours after from the meter. Apparently you can not override any pump settings from the meter. I enter all BGs into the meter, for log book record keeping. Here is what I mean, before eating I test and enter GB and carbs, I eat, 2 hours later I test. If I enter the BG into the meter I get the reminder, alarm, 2 hours later to test again. In order to get around this I enter my after meal BG into the pump where I can change the reminder to 0. This is not really a big deal. I really like the pump. It operates just like the 2020.

As a guy the remote feature is cool but not essential. As a chick I would think the remote feature would be worth the extra time needed for bolusing. Just think no more digging under a dress or into a bra in public for the pump. For everybody though, bolusing is as simple as doing a finger stick. From start to finish it probably takes me 1 minute 30 to 1 minute 45, to do a finger stick and bolus. When out at a restaurant this surely beats the syringe thing. People just don't stare at testing they way they do at injecting.

I don't know if the upgrade cost would be worth it.
