Question problem with my inserts

i HAVE BEEN HAVING A LOT OF TROUBLE THE LAST TWO DAYS WITH GETTING THE cannula tubing not to bend on me. I put it mostly in my stomach or on my side but three times now I have inserted the cannula and it has worked great then later in the day or even into the next day all the sudden I get the no delivery alarm or worse I just start getting extreme bs. I take it and it just says HI so i take out the insert and find it bent like someone has crumpled it but i do not know why it works for a bit then stops. Has anyone had this problem before?

I had the kinking problem once. My cannula looked like an L when I removed it. My pump trainer changed the length of the cannula for me, and I have been doing well with my sets ever since.

I have an Animas pump and use the Inset. (Diabetic and needle-phobic. Bad bad bad combination! LOL) I have 9mm cannulas on the sets now. It was a 6mm that bent on me.

I would contact the supplier. There IS a chance that the sets are defective somehow. Very often, if you have problems and feel the sets may be defective, your pump supplier will replace them for you.

Good luck!

Pooh.........what infusion set are you using? Are you manually inserting or using an inserter?

In 3 years of pumping, I've only had a bent cannula a few times.

I switched to a shorter cannula and that totally eliminated the problem. I use the mini med silhouettes and never had problems with them....

I have been using the 6mm Quicksets for over 2 years now. I do use the inserter all the time and have never had a bent cannula yet. I have never tried to insert it manually.

Could you be inserting it into scar tissue?

well I didn't want to admit I am overwieght lol but i use my pump in my stomach (have just started using in my legs since this) and i am wondering if the extra fat would be the cause of it crimping up. I can tell when i pull the needle out if it if it catches i know to take the set out because it has most likely crimped. I guess whats throwing me off for an explanation is why does it work fine for a day or a few hours and then crimp. i mean unfortunatly it's not because i am suzzy areobics, i do office work and clean house mostly.
so why are the crimping after they are in my body?
