Animas Ping IOB

I'm not sure if anybody has addressed this here but I'd like to bring it up just in case it helps any of you cozmo pumpers out there comparing your choices for a replacement pump. I saw that a bunch of people had been talking about the animas pump not taking insulin on board into account when bolusing. Mine has an "IOB-2" setting under the advanced menu which enables a similar feature. It looks like it only subtracts the IOB for any BG adjustments, not for carbs.
So if I've got 2u on board and eat a meal requiring 10u and my BGL is 150, it will give me a BGL adjustment of +2u and a IOB adjustment of -1u, so it suggests I bolus 11u.

I have the Animas 2020, not the Ping. AFAIK, the pump itself is the same, so the following points should hold true.

This confused the living daylights out of me at first too. The recommendation to include or not include the IoB on the 2020 depends upon the BG reading you give it and how that sits with your target at that time of day. If you go and look at this thread it may shed a bit more light on it for you. Or make your brain hurt

Animas 2020 IoB question (yes, another one!)

And if you're feeling like a complete geeky person then you may also like another thread I started regarding the insulin on board with the 2020 and how it works it out.

Animas IoB tables - here is how it works it out

Hope these help

That's a great thread on IOB Gary - I've just read it again, and it really does all make better sense now I have. The stuff you learn from other people's experiences with these pumps is amazing!!
