| | | IV Prep NO MORE???? HI There,
I have been told from 2 pharmacies now that IV prep has been discontinued as they are in the process of changing the product. I am almost out of my IV prep and was not given sufficient notice of the discontinuation. I am concerned about what to use as a replacement product will not be available for another several months.
The pharmacist has advised a product called, SKIN PREP. Does any one know about this issue and have they used skin prep?
Cait

| | | I also use IV Prep and haven't heard anything about it being discontinued or reformulated. I just got a shipment of supplies from Minimed a couple of weeks ago and got my box of IV Prep wipes with it as usual.

| | | I have been using the Skin Prep for a while now with no problems. I was using the IV Prep but by mistake got a box of the Skin Prep. Seemed to work about the same for me.

| | | IV prep and Skin Prep are virtually the same product. And both are made by Smith-Nephew. I believe the only difference between them is cost. Skin prep is about half the cost. |

Individually packaged like an alcohols swab. It isn't a tape/dressing. IV Prep helps infusion sets to stick better.

| | | Just look up home care in the yellow pages and you should be able to find it at a medical supply store. I know Walgreen's drug chain has them, but theyre everywhere. I have to get mine there as the pharmacies dont carry it.
And theres also online. |

| | I work for a medical supply company that deals with Smith and Nephew. I can guarantee that the company is not discontinuing IV Prep. Your pharmacy may have decided it will no longer carry it, but it is still being made. |

Mike | Access Diabetis is no more... They were bought by Liberty who would not be my choice for a pump supplier

Cait | Our local Wally World Pharmacy just ordered me a box on Tuesday, pick them up this morning. $16 and change.

Skin prep is about half the cost. | Correct me if I am wrong but the skin prep does not contain any antiseptic solution such as alcohol. Even though I change my site just after showering I would be a bit leary of using a product without the alcohol. I will be ordering my supplies in about two weeks so I shall see what happens then. I do appreciate the heads up.

| | | i dont use anything like this and when i got my pump was told that such things are particularly necessary as long as you're nice and clean when you change set etc which is common sense.....not sure what other people think? iv never had any problems.

What a deal if it did...
