*Fingers crossed*

After meeting my Endo this week I've decided to take the plunge. I called Minimed this morning to start the ball rolling on with their Real Time CGMS.

I should know my level of insurance coverage by Monday, but the inside sales rep thought I had excellent coverage and shouldn't have a problem. I'm cautiously optimistic that I'll qualify for 100% coverage through DME .

Good luck! I had gone to a Minimed class last year (after I'd been pumping with a 715 for 3 years) to learn more about CGMS. I told the rep & nurse who were running the class what insurance I have and they both said my insurance covers CGMS. I've been using the sensors now for a year and overall I'm very happy with them.

Does your insurance cover your pump supplies 100%? I'm guessing that coverage for the CGMS stuff would be the same. Mine are all covered 100% as DME.

Yes everything @ 100%...the Minimed rep indicated that it was also a good sign that my insurance required what he considered to be a minimal amount of paperwork!

Good Luck. I hope everything goes through for you.

I see my endo for my 3-month visit on 7/10. He's been on me for the last 9 months to go on CGMS because I can't get my A1c down.

I've been holding off because 1) I was told United Healthcare wasn't paying for them "yet", 2) I didn't want something else attached to me, and 3) I was really hoping something "new & improved" would be on the market by the end of the year when I can get a new pump.

Excellent News!

Minimed confirmed that my insurance will cover 100% of CGM costs.

w00t!

Now I'm just waiting for the letter of medical necessity that my endo faxed over this morning to make its way through the various people and departments at Minimed before an order is placed and shipped.
