Red face Insulin back up plan

I do have my syringes in my purse and I do occ. grab my vial of insulin in case I need it. My question is - if I should forget my insulin is there a way to draw from the cart. in the pump? This would be if I had pump or inset problems and I"m not at home.
I'm just thinking of the ins and outs of possible problems.
I'm just a little girl scout I guess - just alway 'got be prepared.. geeess
Thanks

What kind of pump are you using? From the current generation of MM pumps, it's really easy... since the reseviors have a little septum at the end where the tubing attaches, if you have a pump failure, you can simply disconnect from the pump, remove the tubing from the reseviour, and withdraw insulin just like a vial. I'm not sure about the other brands though.. I know with the older MM pumps (508 and older) that wasn't possible because of the leur connection (it wasn't sealed).

pump type

I have the ping pump. So far so good for this new user...

So, I just stick the needle into the tubing area and withdraw?

With a Ping, you can remove the luer lock and insert the needle into the reservoir. It will be harder if the reservoir is very low.

I use to carry a syringe as a back up and probably should. However, in the 6+ years of pumping I have only had two malfunctions with my Minimed 712 that required shipping a new one out overnight.

For the record, to date, no problems with My Cozmo. **** Cozmo for getting out of the pump industry!
