The Ping is coming!!!

I am quite impressed with Animas. They had my paperwork yesterday, and I bought my Ping today! It will be here on Tuesday, and I can't wait!

I should be paying the co-pay on the DexCom 7+ early next week, and getting it within two weeks. It is going to be amazing after a 2 year pumping vacation.

Any tips for someone who hasn't used an Animas pump before?

I love my Ping. I've only been pumping for two months now, so I have nothing to compare it to.

Ask Animas for samples of ALL their available infusion sets. I really like the Orbit sets, but you have to contact Orbit directly for those. Its nice to be able to try some out.

I keep forgetting the pump is water proof. When I've gotten schmutz on it and search for something to clean it with... DUH! I can use a wet cloth.

The color screen ROCKS, but the meter leaves something to be desired (a batter screen, namely). Overall, I love this thing though.

Minimed and I didn't get along, and their CGMS felt like a friggin' cougar bit me whenever I inserted a new set.

Pumping was a lot easier for me, though. I am so excited I can barely stand it!

I too love my Ping! Also agree and have voiced my opinion to the Animas rep, the meter could have a better screen.

Other than that I have no issues at all. The remote bolus and waterproof are wonderful! I've been swimming, got caught in the rain on my bike and even been in saltwater with no pump issues at all.

Enjoy!!!

Does the pump come to you in "training mode"? I was hoping to tinker with it before I got started. I was on the MM722 for 3 years, so I'm just going to have to get used to the different menus, etc.

I got the black pump, and am still thinking of a name, any suggestions?

It was a week between receiving my pump and getting trained by the CDE. She advised me to install the battery and start getting familiar with the buttons, menus, etc.

Definitely not waiting on the CDE to get started. I pumped before, and can get the basics set up. The CDE is coming to help me with the more advanced features, which will be nice. It is perfect timing too: finals week is coming, and I will be spending 20 hours at a time at school (rarely do that, but this quarter is absolutely brutal!). I won't have to leave to take my basal injection, only to eat. I'm even more excited to use the Ping in conjunction with the DexCom. The two together will be amazing, and will make the day to day a bit easier.
