question on odering supplies

Im not ready to order them just yet but a co-worker is. She has the same pump and we both have the same insurance through our employer. Our insurance will cover 80% on all supplies after the deductable is met.

i will probably have to order my supplies sometime in January or February and of course my deductable will re-start again. Is the normal just paying out of pocket full price for the supplies? This really sucks because its not cheap for these supplies.

I guess i just wanted to know how everyone else does their process? For PING users, do you order straight through Animas or somewhere else? This is my first time and im not educated on how the whole insurance thing works.

Thanks!

Yes my insurance is the same. 80% after the deductible is met. The first 2 or 3 months really hurts to see those huge bills. But you meet the deductible pretty fast.

I heard that places like americandiabeteswholesale.com is cheaper if you are paying out of pocket, but I have just started on the pump and don't have a deductible to pay until September.

How much is your deductible? Mine is $2000, which is horrible. It is going to be hard to cover that as a student, but that's what I have to do I guess.

Check your phone book and et your fingers do the walking - call a few and see if they carry and what their prices are. Talk to your insrance company and find out what suppliers they will approve for when they start paying the bill. It helps to sue the same supplier all the trime, if possible. Check on line for places like the one mentioned in the earlier response or Liberty Medical or just search in Google for the brand of supplies you use and see who carries them and call for pricing.
