Give yourself a month to get used to it...Thinking like your pancreas is kinda a weird thing. Once you get your basals sorted out, you're about 75% of the way home. Then the insulin to carb ratio is important too. Then you'll need to sort out how different foods break down for you. Using a fast-acting analog to be a basal is different than Lantus or NPH.

But remember not to ever freak out. Test a lot. If in doubt, TEST. If not in doubt, TEST. And we're here to help as much as possible.

Congrats, Cinnabon! I think you will be very happy with the pump! Most are.

Take care, hon.

Congratulations Cinnabon!

Watch the video through a few times before you go to your training, and play around w/the buttons. Like Duck said, give yourself about a month to get use to it. You'll do great!!

I am looking a month ahead, I say you will expect to have a freedom that you haven't felt before. Sleep in, eat when you what and indulge every once in awhil.

And, on your new pump and good luck with it.

Thumbs up

Definite to you for getting your pump! Here's wishing you good luck tomorrow, and please keep us posted along the way. As far as what to expect, it may be hard to say, as each person is so different. However, I think the others gave good pointers:

1. Give your body time to adjust
2. Test, test, (you guessed it...) test
3. Don't give up, even if it doesn't work out right away...
4. Ask All the questions you can

Here's hoping you have great experiences as you start pump therapy with your new "friend!"

Cinnabon, did I scare you away?

I forgot about the sleeping-in thing...I forgot that I used to have to wake up and eat or else I could have bad things happen. Sigh, how nice to forget!

Cinnabon~ Congrats on the new pump. Like you, I know nothing about pumping. But, from what I've read, you're going to love it once it's all set up and purring.

I agree... I got my MM 515 at the end of January and it has changed my life... no longer am I on a set schedule... I can when I want to and not when my insulin tells me too.

I sleep better than pre-pump also..

It will be a little scary at first, but I think the MM pump is very easy to use and I love the Easy Bolus... input your BG, input your carb intake for that meal, it will give you a 'recommended' dose, you can alter it if you want, then it will ask you how long you want to wait before checking your BG, and then at the specified time... it will beep at you to remind you to check your BG... I love it..

That feature is NOt "Easy Bolus", Clint; it's the "Bolus Wizard".
