| | | Wait for me!!! That's what my pump has been screaming out to me when I have dropped it by mistake. This has happened to me twice. I have gotten up from my chair, taken it out of my pocket/hip, and walked away. I realize it a bit late when it has dropped to the floor, and my tubing is tugging at the site. I noticed there is a small lock at the side of the Quickset, does this prevent it from pulling out? Can anything go wrong with this happening?

| | | I have only once pulled out a set, and that was one **** of a tug, bottom line, if the tape around the set still looks good, and your sugars are good for a couple hours after you tug on it, you in the clear...

| | | I use waterproof medical tape about two inches up from the insertion site to give a little more resistance to tugs and pulls--It has worked well for me in that regard, but it does add a bit of a "socially unacceptable" Frankenstein look to the whole thing.
As Paul said, check your sugars--if they stay good, you're fine. I got my tubing stuck on a knob once--that sucked, but somehow it lasted the next day like it was supposed to with good blood sugar levels.

| | Check this page out, what duck is talking about is called a safety loop, this way when you get a tug, it will pull the loop to give you that extra time to react... http://vps2139.securesites.net/diabe...umps_prep8.php

| | | The safety loop has saved me more than once from pulling the infusion site out. Its simple and if it saves you from having to reinsert well worth it.

| | | the only site I have pulled out was when I was chasing my 3yr old son and my side hit a bookcase right on my site and pulled it out. I barely even felt it.

| | Hi Traci. Congrats on your pump!
I've not experienced too many issues with cannulas getting pulled out, but have had past issues with kinking sets. I switched to needle type sets (for that and other reasons), and usually use a safety loop. It seems to work well, and the needle sets seem way less likely to pull out (and way easier to re-insert in the event of accidental yankings!).
