OK, I have been pumping since Thursday, (4 days ago)-Have already over bolused myself.. LOL, well, it was my fault.... 6 hours on the pump, and I already have a story that my trainer can tell other users!! hee hee....

OK, you users... How easy does the infusion set come out.. Not when you change it, I have already done that, and got it on the first try. (yeah me!)

I mean, if your three year old nephew comes running at you, and jumps on you. If you snag your line on a drawer in your kitchen as you walk by, if you sit on the sofa, and the dog jumps on you... Things that you dont expect...

I feel like I am babying the site.. (Like when you sprain something, and baby it for a while)..

How long did it take for you all to be comfortable with feeling like the thing wont pull out all the time??

By the way, I love this thing...... Its has been great these 4 days so far...
I got the minimed 515. all I can say is Woo Hoo!!

Congratulations on your new pump!! The freedom that it brings is wonderful.

Thomas has snagged his a few times and is always playing rough with the dog.

He puts op-site (IV 3000) on prior to his infusion set (thanks to our friends here on the forums ). This seems to help A LOT. Before he did this he would lose his sites more often.

Congratulations Traci on pumping! That is awesome!

I've been pumping since August 2001 and I've pulled maybe 2 to 4 sets out since that time. The times I've pulled them out are usually because the set was on my hip and pulled it off w/my hip-hugger jeans. The set is fairly stable and can take a fair amount of tug on the tubing. You should be ok, especially if you tuck your tubing into the inside of your pants. I also use the IV-3000 because of tape allergies and I love it!

It was a few weeks for me. Most of the time nowadays I am fine with my sets, but every now and then I get one where I feel uncomfortable with it just about the whole time it is in, but I don't remove it 1) because I am stubborn and 2) because I am cheap.

It's not as easy as you think to pull the site out. There've been a couple times when Adam gets up and his pump falls down and is just hanging there and it never gets pulled out.

And on that note, the next time you have to remove your current set, do all the bad things to it you can think of--It might hurt, but try and get caught on a door knob, have someone tug on it, etc. At least you'll have an idea of what to watch for.

Hey, thanks for the replies... I am using the IV prep, and I did have to tug pretty good on it, for the first set to come out. Next set change I will have to play with it to see what it can handle.. Good idea!!

That is really great you were able to adapt so quickly. If you read up on me, you will probably be laughing for quite some time. I have placed my pump on a table, stood up and walked away a few times (lol). Nothing happened.

I have been pumping for about 7 months and no yank outs yet (fingers crossed). My trainer told me to do EXACLY what Duck suggested, next time you have to change, give it a good tug and see how much pressure it really takes.

okay, im a newbie here, lol....how does the insulin pump work...who needs it or can use it? I'm a type 2, insulin dependant....I have no insurance, so does it cost a bit....whats the procedure like? I guess I need the whole nine yarded information? lol...thanks guys and GOD BLESS
