Wow...
This was a good experience a room full of newbie pumpers being trained by PROFESSIONALS. Of course I was the example of "patient abuse & neglect". They were all being hooked up to saline, so I felt like a pro in there..LOL.
One thing I did notice, there were a lot of teenagers being trained. This disease is seriously affecting our youth tremendously. It was funny how they had on one corner the Cozmo trainer and on the other corner, and main stage, Medtronic. There were a few with serious disabilities such as blindness attempting to get trained, too.

All pump companies are targeting the younger audience..."Cozmo" isn't exactly a 30-something's idea of a cool product name like "Ferrari" or "Countache". (giggle)

Did you learn anything good?

Went for the 2nd visit today and I must say there were a lot of special cases there. From patients on U-500 & the pump to a small lil boy that had to be taken off immediately while in class due to his rise in BS. He cried so hard that I had to go over and let him know how scared I was too. He turns and tells me, "Im NOT scared, I just want my pump NOW!" LOL

They covered:

Sickness
Buffets. chinese food, EFFECTS OF PIZZA (we also discovered an advantage on MM over Cozmos... lol)
being on medication, such as steroids
Traveling, Time zone changes
Getting a loaner pump when you travel
Alcohol

and something that I did not know and am very embarrased to admit(being a T1 for this long and NEVER knew).. THe fastest way to get an correction shot is in the forarm follwed by rubbing it!

Incredible how almost all this information I had learned from all of you ......

I thought it was recommended to NOT rub an area after any shot? I can see their point, rubbing is like massaging in that it encourages blood flow, blood flow will encourage more absorption, etc. How long are you supposed to rub?

Hi,
I've been on a Cozmo pump since April and I'm loving it. Exactly where is your forearm?? I can't imagine giving a shot in what I think is my forearm! And I have to know.....what did you find that the MM can do that my atomic purple cozmo can't? Please tell me so I can do my best to prove you wrong.

Below is your forearm and the benefit from the Mm was being able to bolus while you are delivering a Dual wave at the same time, If I can remember correctly.

Actually, the Cozmo can do a bolus while doing a combo bolus (aka Dual Wave), but will "complain about it" before it allows the user to go on with the bolus amount....I'll try the combo another way, but from what I can see so far, it works...The only time I think it won't allow another amount to be given is if one is actively being given at the same exact time. Hope this helps...

I'm pretty sure we can do another bolus while the combo is running..but it does "complain" as dewey said to let you know that you still have another bolus running. Those of us who tend to eat too much too often are familiar with these features. :p

Don't feel bad Cinnabon. I didn't know that, either. Thanks for that info!

Don't know how good a forearm stick would feel, but if it helps...Yikes!

Somehow I don't think I will be giving myself annnnnny shots in the forearm(s)...But I will consider taking a shot and rubbing it in elsewhere.
