| | | Hey, I'm a newbie like you! Been pumping since 7-7... I have done two changes so far.... and i just did the same as you. loosened the adhesive, and pulled, Yes, it did leave a red spot, for me, but only for a few hours.
(This was on my stomach.)
How do you like it so far??? I love mine, and cant imagine going back to MDI!

| | Yep, just loose the adhesive and pull it right out. After a while, you can play connect the dots w/the red marks
Actually mine itch when I first take out the site, so I usually put some cream on it and it feels better. If you don't already, you might want to try putting IV-3000 tape down before you insert your site, and insert the site right over the tape. I found that it helps keep the site a lot more comfortable.

| | Hi,
Like Amanda_Jo, I usually just loosen the tape and remove the infusion set. The IV300 (or Tegaderm, Opsite, etc.) idea is definitely a great one and has helped me many times (I normally fastened mine above the tape to ensure a good hold, but for those sensitive to the adhesives, it's probably better to put the Tegarderm/IV3000/Opsite below). I've also experienced red marks, but not all the time. I usually use the needle sets.

| | I just peel off the sticky thing and take the set out Sometimes it's itching a bit afterwards and i always get a tiny red dot where the needle thing has been. Oh well, as long as my cat doesn't pull my sets out He has done that once

| | | OK - those of you that are putting the iv 3000/opsite/tegaderm on first, have stated it makes the site more comfortable. What is more comofortable about it? It this an adhesive thing or what. I have never heard of inserting on top of the opsite.

To Quote Duck - "Wierdness" | I usually cut a hole in the center, whether or not I put the adhesive on the top. I can't speak for the others, but I've heard some say that they do put the set right throught the tegaderm (or other adhesive).

| | | yeah i would think if you put it thru the dressing then the little needle would pierce thru and it would go in your body.
my 1st little red dot is starting to be invisible finally but my 2nd one is still there. ugh so now im have little red dots forever i guess since it does take things longer to heal on diabetics.

| | | I put the IV3000 on and then insert the site right over the tape. The reason it is more comfortable is that the IV3000 tape is very comfortable and you don't know it's there. I have problems with the adhesive on the actual infusion set, so this prevents it from touching my skin. But even if I didn't have an allergy, I would still use the IV3000 b/c the tape is more gentle and soft than the tape on the infusion set.

| | | Oops. I read about that technique in a MM newsletter (back when they cared about me), the recommendation was to better protect against sweat loosening the set. Well, I found it indeed helped with sweat and also felt a bit more comfortable, and it *seems* to me that I heal better this way.
