| |  Having Pump Issues! :(
I'm on a rant! (just to warn you) 
So I'm not at work today...I wanted to go in (kind of  ), but I woke up with a high blood sugar of over 350 and have not been able to bring it down. It's frustrating the **** out of me and I feel like ****  . I don't really know what's the problem, whether it's a pump issue or not, but that's my feeling.
The last few days, I've been feeling off...my stomach has been bothering me and I've also been dealing with the runs (and I don't mean exercise, lol). Last nite I came home tested and I was up to 200, I figured it was a pumping issue so I changed the site. Then I tested a little while later and I was still in the 200 range and at that point I went to bed (it was late), though maybe I should have changed the site again. Well...I woke up this morning feeling very drowsy and almost like I had a hang over or something...I tested and I was up to 350  . I took a bolus, ate some protein for breakfast, have been drinking no carb, no cal beverages, and 2 hours later, my reading read HI. OMG  ! I thought that has to be wrong, I tested again and it read in the 460 range. At that point, I was pretty sure it was a pump problem so I took an injection of my insulin and called my Endo  . Now, he thinks it might be the insulin itself so I changed out everything, opened a new vial, etc. I just tested about 1/2 hour ago and I'm still in the 400 range. I don't understand! I just gave myself another 5 units and if I don't see a change, I'm not sure what to do...other than call my doctor again.
I hate these HIs, they suck  ! I'm trying to think of what is going on and I'm drawing a blank. I mean, there are so many possible reasons. ..and I hate that. I want to know exactly why so I can solve it and move on. If only it was that easy. You know, just when I think things are going well, this has to happen. 
Sorry, I'm being such a miserable wreck today  . I'm a mess, I know. I just needed to get that out and I hope you all don't mind my venting  .

| | | If you're sick, it will wreak havoc on your sugars, and it sounds like you had something going on prior to your sugars taking off.
When you take your next correction bolus, do not use your pump...I can't advise you how much insulin to take, but use your "correction factor" as your guide--keep in mind that when you are REALLY high, your typical correction factor will not be enough, it's a proven fact. How much more you'll need is the question, dose carefully.
Also, spread your "shot" around to at least two sites. When I am really high, and need say a 10-unit correction, I use my pen and dial up a 4-unit bolus, and inject...then a 3-unit and inject somewhere else, and then an additional 3-unit and inject in a third site, at least five inches from the others. The increased surface area helps absorption.

woah i hope you feel better soon. i had a 300 high yesterday that wasnt cool but it went down after a correction bolus.

Sorry to hear about your highs...I think your stomach acting up has a lot to do with it.
VENT AS MUCH AS YOU NEED TO.....God knows, I drove all of you crazy with my pump issue. Please keep us up to date on how you are doing.....Big hug 4 U.

| | Sorry to hear your having a rough time. This reminds me, of the same thing I went thru. I don't know how i went so high. I would take 5 units every 3 or 4 hours with no improvments. until 10 hours later.
I was going to offer the first part of Duck's advise but he beat me to it. 
I was told anytime your bg is over 300 to take an injection and I have notice when I take an injection I have faster results then using the pump.

A BIG Thank-You to you all  ! I am doing a lot better now...my blood sugar did finally come down. Before I left for the gym, it was 150. Ok, that's not perfect, but it's a HUGE improvement  .
The doctor's guess was that my insulin had gone bad...and I think he was right. I tried the injection, instead of bolusing, of humalog and it still didn't come down. So when I changed everything out...things started to improve.
Anyway, thanks so much for all your help and support. It means a lot!

It might be that you're getting sick or that you are sick and not showing alot of symptoms. I've been experiencing almost the same as you. The past few days i've been on the higher side, especially when I bolus. I decided yesterday to increase my basil and bolus by 20% and have had decent sugars since. I kinda knew by the diarrhea I had yesterday that I was starting to get sick.
