| | How could this happen???? I put in a new site on Thurs. morning. It worked great all day, night and the following day. Friday evening I had a (one piece) of pizza and did my usual 3.0 units to cover it. I waited 2 hours and checked and I was at 545!!!!!! OMG...did I forget to bolus...so I checked....NOPE I did it right. I took an injection of 10 units and laid down. In an hour I was up to pee and checked again to see how much it had come down....well to my surprise it was 574......another 5 units and back to bed....few hours later I woke to pee again....and checked it was 220...I was relieved thinking that I must of bolused wrong at some point but not sure how. I went back to bed and woke at 6:30am and checked again 349!!!!!!! OK I am up now and ticked...I pull out the site and the whole thing is bent in half at the base!!!!!! I can't for the life of me figure out why it worked for a day and half and then decided to bend in half???? Anybody got a clue what might have happened????

| | It was in the left side of my lower ab....I am not a skinny minny so it has something to hold on too. I am still baffled by it all and am trying to think of anything I did that could have hit or damaged it but so far nothing....

| | | Only thing that comes to mind is;where you driving for a long period of time where you were crunched over or had that part of your body hunched over? (Housework, watching tv, kneeling )

| | Ugh! How frustrating for you! That must have been a very tough nite for you dealing with those high sugars (I hate that! : ).
I don't know if I can explain what happened there either . I'm pretty certain I've experienced that kind of thing in that past and then I also get a bit obsessive trying to figure it out. The only thing I can think of is that maybe your tubing got pulled or jostled a bit or got knocked out of place. I don't know if this is a possibility, but that's all I can come up with to explain that. When that sort of thing happens to me, I usually don't change out the set right away...I guess in hopes that it will come down eventually. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen to often and I usually do end up changing everything. Then I kick myself for not doing it sooner
Sorry to hear of this experience, but I'm glad things are better now.

| | | I've been high all night, maybe it has to do with the coriolis effect or the lunar phases or something (sorry Belinda, I know that doesn't help).

| | | Was the cannula still in the skin or was it bent laying on top of the skin? If it was already out maybe you dislodged it by disconnecting possibly? Then when reconnecting bent it. Last time I had a bent cannula is when MM switched quick sets and forced me to the hospital. I pulled the set out later and realized it was laying on top of my skin the whole time just bent.

| | Sorry to hear about your high numbers, Bel! I'm not really sure if I can explain it or help any, but similar things have happened to me (when I used to wear cannula sets). Nothing's more frustrating than when they kink like that. Did you do some housework or something where you may have bent over? Perhaps that could have caused it to kink?
