Isn't it weird how these happen? I go low every time I grocery shop, go figure!

if you are not going over 120 by yourself, do you really need to bolus at all? As T2 you seem to be producing your own insulin ( enough to cover the low carbs anyhow)

Previously 50 to 100 carbs now I try to limit it to under 50 per day.

Well that was why I was wondering. Last tests he did c-peptide and I was right in middle, 2 out of 0-4 range. Last night I ate atkins bar, 3 net carbs, bolused, and hit 140 two hours later. This morning bolused for 2 carbs of creamer in coffee, went from 95 to 87 2 hours later. It was a different atkins bar,I have had other types and not bolused and didn't rise. Needless to say that kind of bar from last night is out. A carb is a carb may be true but how they hit seems to vary depending on type of carb.

I agree not all carbs are equal when it comes to BGs ( & individuals) I do ok on high fiber carbs but not good at all on the processed carbs.

Moonpie. I understand what you are saying, but some of us need or want better control to avoid future organ damage. Also we need to consider how long the person will stay over 120. If getting them down to 120 is all their pancreas can do with the help of a proper diet and exercise, they need to bolus. Just saying. By the way Congrats on the great numbers.

I understand, but she said she did not go over 120 without any bolus. We all have to do what is in our best interests. By whatever means we think is best for us.

Well do have to bolus for more than the net carbs in atkins bars, now they are all taking me higher. So if my body acts like all the carbs are there then I guess they are out for me as part of induction. Dang!

Probably not a good idea on induction. I have read of folk who blame the bars for stalls in the weight loss.

I bolus for protein about as much as carbs, but some of that is a type 1 uber-glucagon release thing. Type 2's tend not to get extra glucagon release. Still, you might want to consider bolusing for protein as half carb. It may not help your BGs much, it may cause hypos, but it may also give your pancreas that little extra break. If you do, go slow; take small steps.
Michelle Oberg "yep....stop trying to make vegetables taste like meat.....you made your choice, now live with it hippies"

Back on MDI and doing well. Zero hypos; few highs; lots of shots. Diagnosed Oct 19th, 1975.
