don | Bolus Wizard is the most obvious new feature. That includes an IOB feature, or "insulin on board", which can prevent stacking of insulin by showing the user how much active insulin is remaining from a bolus.
The pump is also more reliable than the 511 which even MM will admit had "issues".
Note that the new pump is NOT considered watertight (officially). It's made from a better plastic which shouldn't crack, so even though they won't certify it to be watertight, you might find that you can swim with it, but I didn't say that. I just suggested it might not fail, if submersed
I would never go jet skiing and jump in the lake 3 or 4 times to cool off, or cool off in the pool at Treasure Island with my pump still attached. No, I would NEVER do that! <g>

| | I use the 712 and I have a 3ml reservoir. I believe that it is the 512 and 515 that has the 1.8 ml and then the 712 and 715 have the 3 ml. Quote: |

don | as Laura noted, the 715 holds 300 and the 515 (mine) holds 180. |

| | | Just re-read the MM upgrade notice. Can only upgrade to the 515 for $299
Guess I'll take a shot at it. My 511 wants to die on me at least once a day from the static .
Thanks for the replies

don | I don't think you'll have that sort of trouble with the 515, even if you don't keep it in a leather case, as MM was always suggesting for the 508 that I had so much trouble with. Oddly enough, my wife never got a static alarm on her 511. I've had my 515 1 year and had no trouble except for when I was stupid enough to put Duracells in it. Let me mention again, do NOT use Duracells; they'll die in less than 7 days and will die without warning. Well THEY don't die, but the pump's battery sensor circuit thinks they are dead and shuts off w/o warning. Once I had 2 bars of power and in the blink of an eye, it alarmed and shut down. very disconcerting! With Energizers I get 6 weeks of use. Home Depot sells them at a good price. |

| | | I'm new to pumping........started on the MM 515 in December. I love the bolus wizard feature and the fact that the meter interacts with the pump. Test........enter the # of carbs you're having.........and the pump tells you how many units you need to cover your meal!

Karen | You picked a good time to get a pump, Karen. <g> They have improved reliability and included worthwhile features in the latest models. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
