Smile Has anyone had problems with stretchmarks causing slow absorption?

Hi everyone! I have been pumping for almost a month now and it has been a struggle at times. My blood sugars are just awesome when my sets work properly. Unfortunately, I had some problems with my blood sugars shooting through the roof after I changed my infusion sets.

After a lot of questions and discussion with my nurse education and medtronic personnel, it appeared that my stretchmarks from pregnancy were the possible cause of slow absorption due to the fact that they are in fact scar tissue.

I later tried to insert my infusion set just above my stretchmarks and low and behold it worked amazing well. My blood sugar didn't even go up! So, I think that I may have figured out the problems that I was having and hope to have continued success!

Anyone else have any experiences like this

I'm not pumping but I find that if I inject on one by accident, I get a wicked bruise. Maybe I'll have to take a better check next time.

I haven't ever had problems with that (I don't have any kids), but anything is possible. If you find out more info, feel free to share!

I've been pumping for 8 weeks now and was told by the pump trainer, as well as some of my online pumper friends, to stay away from the stretchmarks when possible. I'm doing my best and it seems to be working.

Hi guys!
Well, I have continued to insert my infusion sets just slightly above my stretchmarks and have had continued success so it looks like that is what the problem was.
Thanks for your replies and hope the best of luck for you all!
