Tracking insulin, carbs, and BGs

Has anyone found a combination of a pump, a BG meter, and software that "talk" to each other and make it relatively easy to track and report on insulin, carbs, and BG readings?

I'm trying to decide on a pump and this is one factor I haven't considered yet. Last week I entered all my information manually into one program and it felt like way too much work, but the reports and graphs were very useful. I'm on MDI right now, 8-10 injections a day (Lantus, Novolog, and Symlin).

I know the One Touch Ultra allows you to track all of that data. You just do the blood test then if you hit a button on it it allows you to enter carb intake and insulin given. Then the data can be uploaded to your computer with their cable and software. It's not an all in one system, but it's the closest thing to it I believe.

I use the animas 1200+, an Ultrasmart and a Palm T|X.

All upload to EzManager on your pc for the complete Carb, Insulin, Exercise, BG picture.

I have the minimed 512, I believe it is the only pump and meter that you can download meter info and pump info. Meters do not give you insulin info only the pump does. The meter will give you your BG readings, the pump will give you your carbs and insulin. It is easy to download to your computer. My Endo LOVES the reports it gives you.

I personally think if someone made a decent program that all pumps and meters could work with they would make a fortune off of it. Sell the software for $30 and alot would buy it just for the convenience of staying with the same software if they switch pumps or meters. Just minor upgrades would be needed for when new pumps come up to accept their most recent info, but it would be a great product. To bad I didn't major in computer programming in college.

Yup, such a system exists! The Cozmore pump has a meter attached to the back of it and they communicate with each other. Then for a log you transfer the history information from the pump/meter to your computer with a program called Cozmanager. From there you transfer the info to the Freestyle copilot program and get all sorts of neat charts. Sounds like a lot of work but it really isn't.

I forgot all about the carb abilities of the ultra smart. I guess it's a pain to enter it into the pump and the meter, but it doesn't take that long and at ultimately gets into the ezManager software and to the endo... Cool

I had the Ultrasmart and it had wonderful abilities other than the time and effort it took to input everything.

I have a Cozmore Pump. It has the pump with a freestyle meter attached to the back via IrDA. You can then upload all of the data into the CozManager software.

The freestyle coPilot was recalled due to errors in the reporting of data. My Dr. and I are searching for sometype of freeware system that can take the place of the CoPilot.

You can still have all of your readings uploaded and printed from CozManager, it just doesn't give you charts and trends. It will just have a reading of your readings and highlight which ones are within or out of target and give you a percentage of each.

If you would like a can post the paperwork that is generated from the system so you can have a screenshot of what it looks like.

Sorry, I forgot about the CoPilot recall, figured they had fixed it by now. I still have the program on my computer and continue to use it. The glitch was minor and probably something you would never notice or encounter, but......CYA.
The Cozmanager program by itself is a waste of memory space IMO. But it still works better than manually loading everything into a program.
