for a pump mfgr to allow me to pump on a loaner pump for which I don't have an Rx yet? seems like training and a script would be required. ( I should have asked the guy today when we spoke by phone. Duh!)

I'll be getting a loaner on Wednesday from Animas!!!!!! Will I just get to play with it (ie no compatible sets left with loaner?)

I thought people usually pumped saline in loaner pumps. Are you planning on pumping insulin?

I would think as long as you aren't pumping a drug (insulin) with it, it would be perfectly legal.

I don't plan on having any saline by Wed. Guess I'll just have to wait until then to find out. common sense tells me they shouldn't allow even a seasoned pumper to use an unfamilar pump, but what do I know? <g>

Loaners go out on the presumption that you WILL use saline if you actually use anything at all. I usually just put in a cartridge filled with air. I used water one time but the thing dripping on my pants caused some embarassment Since infusing saline 8 years ago I have never felt the need to infuse it again. The idea is to find out how the pump operates, what the prompts are like, what your screens show you and how you can follow the progressions of the menu. It is NEVER to compare how it balances your Bgs as compared to another pump. To do that type of comparison would require several months of painstaking recording to be even close to being accurate.
