Cool Silserter

Hi all

I recently tried the silhouettes. And, to my suprise, I actually liked them! I really think that they are something I could easily use in my leg or in other places where I can't seem to pinch an inch without some muscle getting in the way.

I have been looking online at silserters. Does anyone use one? I just want to make sure that they are worth the $$ before I go out and buy one. I don't mind putting it in manually, but I think I want to give it a try with the serter.

Thanks!

MM sent me one on their dime. I didn't even have to ask.

I started using Silhouettes in January after having many many bent cannulas on the Quick-Sets. When I called MM to ask for some samples, they also sent the Serter. It jammed after just a couple of weeks so they sent another. I tried to insert manually once and my skin seemed to turn to rubber. I could not get it in at all.

I really like the Silhouettes but I do miss the ease of the Quick-Sets, which I have no problems inserting manually.

1/2 your post matches my experience and the other 1/2 decidedly doesn't!

I got the Sil serta included with 4 complimentary silhouettes when I complained about bent cannulas.

I couldn't stand the Sil and removed it after 3 miserable hours.

I wish you the best with the Sils...

Personally, I hated them ... The quicksets are SO much better, IMO

Well Laura I guess me and you are just going to have to ring a lil birdie in MM's ear. I would like a quickserter but don't want to fork over the $25 (call me cheap) so I think we should follow spike's idea and call and complain about kinked cannula's after inserting manually and get it for FREE.

I love the Silhouettes now. I can put them all over my upper abdomen, something I couldn't do with the Quick-Sets. I also like being able to see the insertion point through the little window, to check and make sure it's not red/inflamed.

I still have 4 boxes of Quick-Sets and maybe when my current reservoir runs out I'll try them again.

I think you're right Sandi But my problem is that I got kinked ones after I inserted them with the quickserter. I have a quickserter, and I do love it. It is a sweet little gadget. I want a silserter because I am a huge chicken when it comes to inserting that huge needle on the sils manually.....lol But, maybe if I complain about kinked cannula's still, I will get a silserter *crossing fingers* I'm on the phone right now. I'll post when I'm done

Right on!!! I will have to call a little later when I have time to answer ALL of their questions and get a story together. Wouldn't it be something if they told me no? Then I'll just have to say well she got one why can't I have one, it's not fair!!!!!!

All I told her was that I've had some bent cannulas lately with the quicksets and so I decided to switch and try the sil's. I told her that I didn't really want to buy a silserter just in case I don't stick with the sils and I asked if they sample out the silserters. She said no, I thought I'm so screwed.....Then she started talking about the needle being long. And so I told her, yes it is very long, and it was really intimidating putting one in manually, which it was. I'm so chicken sometimes. Then she said, Awe heck, I'll send you one. It should be here Monday. I would say just be really nice to them Let me know what happens!

My silserter just got here. It is a lot bigger than I thought it would be! But, I have to change my set today, and so I will post about how it goes with inserting the sil with this thing.

When I first saw the serter, I thought it looked like a prop from a science fiction/horror movie. It was almost scarier than the Silhouette! I had seen a Sil in person at a Minimed class last year, and I always remembered it as being huge which is why I stayed away from them. When I finally got my own earlier this year, they didn't look nearly as scary as I remembered. The Serter worked great on my first try and I've used it ever since.
