| | | Availablility of latest "Pumping Insulin" book by Walsh The new edition of Pumping Insulin was supposed to be out in April. Amazon shows it as shipping in 4-6 weeks, and barnes and noble doesn't list it at all anymore.
Anyone know where to get the 4th edition? I've been holding out for it, and it's supposed to be out now.

| | | From John Walsh's web site (Diabetesnet). I quote: "Available Late May/Early June 2006 Totally rewritten. Everything you need to know for success on a smart pump. Comprehensive guide to using smart pump features like bolus on board (BOB), duration of insulin action, carb and correction factors. Clear, logical explanations of what to do and how to do it. Dozens of clever pump tricks and new pump concepts. If you are considering a pump or already on one, you definitely want to read this book!"
So, hopefully very soon! (fingers crossed...)

| | | I've been waiting on it too. And FYI...Borders.com has it for $15.57 and as always, free shipping on orders $25 and above. Which drives me nuts because they have one book in stock I want and I need this book to come in also so I can get my free shipping.

| | | The date for the 4th edition keeps getting postponed. It started out mid- to late-April (when I pre-ordered it from Amazon in March). Then at the end of April it got changed to mid-May. Now they are saying late-May to early-June. Just like every other new diabetic product it's "hurry up and wait." I'm in the same boat that Jedi is in. I ordered other books to get free shipping and everything is delayed. Arg! |

| | | Is it worth ordering the 3rd Edition of this book while waiting for 4th edition? I know the 4th Edition was published in 2000 and some info outdated but wouldn't it still have useful info? I'm getting ready to start pumping in the next week or so and would like to have a good book to read on it. Any other book recommendations for first time pumpers? |

Some of the advice in the third edition is probably dated. |

| | | ALOT has changed from 2000 (when the 3rd edition came out I believe.) I know the new book talks about the different combo type boluses for each pump and also talks about the IOB settings. Both of which are very important to understand at least to some level if you use either. I personally would wait unless you get the 3rd edition for around $5.

| | | Thanks for your opinions on buying 3rd edition. Maybe I'll check Ebay for a used one, or new one selling very cheap. There is so much info on here I could probably find an answer to any question I would have on pumping. I have looked at the insulin pumper's site and found useful info there as well. |

| | | The expected release date is now "mid-June." This is getting ridiculous. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
