animas inserters

I was wandering about the inserters for the animas. Do they have one like the cleo 90.
I go to the endo tuesday and I am pretty sure that I will be getting a pump aand I am going with the animas 1250. I want an inserter that you can set the speed of the insertion. If I get the animas can I get the cleo or do I have to go with cozmo to get the cleo.

I believe Animas sells all brands of supplies for any pumps. If you want the cleo inserter just try to let them know that before they ship your pump and they shoudl be able to ship one with it.

This doesn't seem to be available in Canada either -- how come we don't get the all-in-one units??

My son would really like this set from the looks of it -- he likes to insert at his own speed, doesn't like that "staple gun" effect of the Quickserter.

Cleo 90 is Smith's medicals form of an "all in one, straight in set." Inset is made by Unomedical and is distrubuted by Animas. I recommend you try them both. Cleo 90 is sold by Smith's and only Smith's, but you can order from them and use them with the Animas 1250. Inset is sold by Animas. Either set works with either pump, since they are standard. I use a Cozmo and use the Inset from Animas. It works. So don't buy the pump just based on what sets are availible, since MM is the only one that has their own special sets.

Cleo 90s are new on the market and just now availible. I've never tried it, but want to. I don't think you "set the speed" I think it just goes in based on how fast you push it down. Insets you just push the sides in and it flings in.

Personally, I love the Insets and have yet to have a problem or even an ounce of pain with them.

That is what I am afraid of. It takes me between 5-10 seconds to give my self a shot.not that I am scared I just can't force myself to just jab it in.
So when I order the supplies next Tuesday (see I am saying that I am gonna get one not gonna let this dr. tell me NO) I just need to tell then that I want to try all the inserters?

Another vote for the insets- they're great. you just press the sides, and before you know what happened, its over with.

I'll also occasionally use a 'comfort' angled set. It depends on the area I'm inserting in.. I would NOT recommend the comfort set for someone just starting pumping. The manual insertion can be a little freaky/intimidating if you're just starting out, especially with the regular length cannula version.

I would like to try the cleo 90s sometime though. Good to have options.

On edit- when I was on MDI I was a slow needle inserter too, and thought I'd hate the automatic quick insertion. I was wrong..

No, when you order your supplies, you will have to pick one set. Talk to your CDE and your doctor and ask for samples to try to decide which ones you want.

But really, the insets are painless. I don't think it went in half the time, and it does.

We can get whatever sets we want. We had a couple to try from our trainer, and then tried a third on our own. Aaron uses two different types now, and I order a box of each...
