I picked up the fixings to make pigs-in-a-blanket and kilbasa for xmas. It's kind of an old family tradition, being part Czech. My wife thinks I'm crazy, but everyone that tries comes back for more.

The deviled eggs are for this weekend, starting tomorrow... Xmas vacation has begun!

When I was a girl, eons ago, we had a neighbor who was from Poland. She made Holupki and always invited me to have them with her. I have made cabbage rolls many time, but none ever tasted like I remember those.

Mine are basically the same thing, but the ones I remember were small, tightly rolled, you could pick them up with your fingers. it was just kind of messy with the tomato sauce. I wasn't cooking for Christmas, but that is something I can make ahead and freeze, so I think we will have them too.....and deviled eggs.

4 heads of cabbage, 4 cups of rice, 8 eggs, 10 lbs of ground beef, 3 onions, 1 lb of banana peppers, 4 cans of whole tomatoes, 12 cans of sauerkraut and 7 hours of hard work. The Holupki's are finally cooking! My feet are so tired I think I'm going to need some more egg nog tonight...

Oh does that bring back memories. My grandparents are from Hungry. We always ate it at Christmas time. Happy eating

I never used eggs or banana peppers in my cabbage rolls(though I have used green peppers), maybe that is why they do not taste the same as my neighbor's Holupki.. What do you do with the eggs?

The eggs are used with the meat and rice stuffing.

Yum Yum, I'll be waiting patiently for mine to arrive, Cyborg, along with Marie's goodies... I'm sure they'll be tasty!
