OMG! Sugar Free Oreo's!

Tasted my first today and you cannot tell the difference!
They make me feel like a very bad girl
A serving is only 2 - so I don't want to waste my carbs allotment too often, but after one month with no sugar...they really taste sweeeeet.

I'll have to read the ingredients...too many of those sugar free foods are a "un-natural" laxative!

WOW! I didn't believe it myself, so I looked it up on the web. Sure enough, it's true. It got pretty good ratings also. I haven't seen them in the Washington, DC area yet. Gotta contact Nabisco to find out who sells them in this area.

Well, I had no reason to notice sugar-free items months ago.
And yer right, 2 is a serving with regular oreo's too.. but I'd rather eat two that are sugar free - for sure.

Please. The carb/calorie/fat content difference between sugar free vs regular is negligible. Per cookie:

-----SF/ Reg
Carb: 8/ 8.3
Cal: 50/53
Fat: 2.5/2.3

The slightly slower absorption of the sugar alcohol (mannitol) is not enough to make up for the stomach distress it causes. Also notice the fat content of the SF is slightly higher. If you want an Oreo, eat a real one. This SF nonsense is strictly a marketing gimmick, and a dangerous one at that. Manufacturers are aware of the recent low carb craze that is sweeping the U.S., the increased onset of diabetes, as well as the increased attention being paid to diabetes in the news. This practice is very dangerous to most diabetics (or their families) who simply see the words "sugar free" and think they are free to gorge. You, who read this message board, should know better.

I agree to that for the most part, however there are some things I eat that is the sugar free/no sugar added stuff, Only because I have to watch calories as well. Sugar free stuff usually has less calories. Sometimes not all the time, you can have 5 cookies in sugar fee vs 2 in regular.... however as I had mentioned before serving size of an oreo is 2.... ill stick with the regular lol

But as far as cookies, peanut butter, cool whip is concerned I eat the regular...

Ill eat no sugar added ice cream over the others tho if I have a choice. But thats just my personal opinion. And i dont have the notion in my head that just because its sugar free i can go hog wild.... nah... moderation is for me.

If there is one thing I have a weakness for, it's cookies. I prefer peanut butter cookies, but will eat just about any kind. I solved my problem by buying 2 from the bulk or bakery area of the store. I do this only when I have had very good control, and have been pretty active during the day. It is such a big treat, I enjoy every crumb of them. The cookies I get usually have 12 carbs per cookie. If a grandkid is around wanting cookies, I tell them to talk Papaw into taking them out for some....he does, takes them to the bakery counter at our Kroger's, where thay pass out a free cookie.

I just went to Walgreens and picked up a box and even my kids couldn't tell the difference in them.... wow!

I can't eat the regular ones, and I don't eat them much anyway, but these are pretty good.

I like homemade peanut butter cookies, I don't know what I'll do this winter when I am supposed to start baking. Those are the only ones I make I even eat. WOW! I just though of that. lol

The carbs for regular and SF are not the same. The Regular have 53 cal and 8 carb per cookie.
The SF have (subtracting the fiber and 1/2 the sugar alcohols) 4.75 carbs and 50 cal. Diabetes dietitions suggest calculating 50% of the sugar alcohols because that is the average of the usable sugars in the various sugar alcohols.
