| | What do you think about Captain D's? Hi, I just love fish and cann't keep away from Captain D's. My doctor wants me to stay away from deep fried foods if I can. What do you think about this restaurant?
Thanks, Rob |

| | Hi Rob, I love Captain D's, too. My husband hates it, so since he is the driver in the family, we seldom go there. I allow myself one fast food meal a month, and even then I am careful about what I eat....no fries, etc. When I do get to eat at Captain D's, I order a 2 piece with slaw and green beans. The hushpuppies are a problem, but the dog likes them.

| | | High Rob,
I quit going to Captain D's about 12 years ago when I found a small screw in the batter. I bit down on it pretty hard and luckily did not break a tooth.

| | | Hi Rob43:
Looks like there are several TN folks on this forum.
As for Capt. D's....I haven't had fried fish since my diagnosis (Aug 06) but know what you mean about the food...it's hard to give up something you love.
Maybe you could try doing your fish at home with Shake-N-Bake (7 carbs/serving of the regular breading). Wouldn't be quite the same, but might take the edge off.
My fav fast food are Krystals...yet only 1 is over a serving of carbs...and who can eat only 1 Krystal?!
There's an excellent website, dietfacts.com, that gives most of the chain restaurants nutritional value, including carbs, calories, fiber, etc. It really helps in determining what the best choices are at each place. It also keeps me away from some places, as it's just not worth the anxiety I feel just before I take my readings after eating something like that. Good luck! |

I think I'll splurge on some soon. We have some very nasty, I mean tasty establishments around here After all this is seafood country. Nothing national in nature tho. |

| | I've never been to a Capt. D's...and I can only find one Long John Silvers up here, unless I'm totally oblivious to any others out there.
Personally, I like to prepare all my own seafood at home.(it's what I'm making for dinner Christmas day)...although not fish, but calamari w/ pasta and then lobster and alaskan king crab legs(thanks to my FIL!)...oh yeah, and scallops and mussels YUM Memories of my other Nana's Christmas dinners!
No turkey this Christmas...and Eri (and me included) can't eat ham(stupid reflux!)

| | Hi, This is weird because I can eat Captain D's fish and the smell of the oil that the fish is fried in bleeds out of my skin when I sweat for some reason. There oil has a funny smell. Why does this happen?
Thanks, Rob | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
