numbers where...
7.4 before pizza
4.7 two hours after pizza
5.4 four hours after pizza

| | | That's amazing - especially as Pizza Hut shows 21-28 of grams of Carbs per slice (1/8 pizza).

| | But how many fat grams and calories that can still damage your health? I love pizza and it has always been a weakness of mine, but 8 slices? Please don't play with fire!

| | | I went to a buffet on Saturday night and was out of control, I even had 2 or 3 desserts. My numbers were similar to yours until the next morning when they really jumped.
Worst of all I had cravings for carbs all weekend and I did indulge in potato chips, and other high carb items.
My numbers were okay during the day but sky rocketed the next morning.
I thought I was so safe on Saturday night. |

I haven't spiked yet. I was ery hungry, i usually keep it down to 5 or 6 slices lol.
It's strange... i never seem to have an issue with pizza or chinese take away food... but so many others do!

| Ya, 13g seems very low. Was this a small 9" pizza?
It's a great way to enjoy life and validate that what you are doing is correct! Gr8 job! Kim while I agree that it adds risk, this is one of the reasons we shoot for great control - to enable these occaisional escapades. As long as you do the things you need to do to stay safe like test, test, and test, go for it! |

| | I find that I can eat pizza without much problem as long as it is thin crust pizza. The thick/regular crust really does a number on my bg.
Good experiment Stu.

| | | Sounds delish! I always say to have a cheat once in awhile keeps a person in line better than if youre constantly craving and feeling deprived! I love "garbage" pizza, EVERY kind of topping you can imagine. Stuffed Crust is so nummy!

| Not to mention the calories... Which can be pretty high. About two days worth of total calories for someone on a 1600 calorie per day diet, which I having been making a good effort to stick to.
My wife watches all these health and fitness shows on TV and she told me about how she had seen on one of them that someone said a Large Pizza Hut Meat Lover's Pizza had 3500 calories. I was curious about that, but never looked it up. Using that .PDF file you posted a link to I checked and sure enough, even the thin crust ones I thought were better were really not...
Based on the total combined calories and carbs in 8 slices, a 14" Large Thin N' Crispy Meat Lover's Pizza has 3440 calories and 232 grams of carbs, if you subtract the 16 grams of fiber. (248 if you don't...)
I used to eat one of those on an average of twice a week. If I were to do that now that I know I'm diabetic and trying to stick to a 1600 calories \ 135 carbs per day diet, I probably wouldn't get to eat much of anything else for the rest of the week...

| | | Wow Stu.. nice job! Pizza is the holy-grail of carb-counting! I've gotten it right a couple times, but usually it sends me way off the mark unfortunately. |
