| | | Olive garden yes! We were invited to lunch there,, and we thought.. umm what will we eat there?
Asked the waitress for nutritional info.. and she had it.. low carb choices mapped out.
we had the chicken in olive oil.. spices.. passed on the potats.. asked for double squash.. a full plate of food.. and less then 10 carbs it said.. had salad and split a bread stick..
It was about 23 carbs.. I think we ate more then the non diabetics who ordered breaded everything and a side of noodles and bread sticks with bread.. I swear they ate a ton of bread. Anyway.. ask for the info.. and enjoy.

| | Good for you! To be honest I have not had a problem at any restaurant I have been to since diagnosis.
in the last couple of weeks my wife and i went here Rockpool Melbourne Home for dinner. (The owner and celebrity chef Neil Perry was eating dinner a couple of tables from us!!!)
it seems their specialty is "Wagyu Beef". i had a large piece of beef with a beautiful green salad. UNBELIEVABLY DELICIOUS.
the appetizer was a "sampling" plate of ham.
cheese for dessert. passed on the crackers.
i even had a piece of bread!
2 hours Postprandial my BGL was 110 and 97 the next morning before breakfast.
restaurants are great and there are always low carb choices in my experience!

| | | David, glad you were able to find some good choices.
If you have questions about what to order at some of the nation chain restaurants, "dietfacts.com" has menus you can print out with all nutritional value (incl. carb counts). I keep copies of the places we frequent most often in the the car, so they are always at hand. I find it easier to know ahead of time what's what.

| | I was just fixing to post a thread about Olive Garden myself! We have a brand new one in town but like you, I was afraid to even attempt it. I am a pasta freak and just knew there would be nothing there for me! Thanks so much for giving me a game-plan for when I go! Now I just have to wait for the massive lines outside the doors to die down!

| | I guess no one has tried their "no sugar added, made with splenda" Torta di Chocolate. It's a lot of carbs, 56 I think, but they don't break down which are fiber or sugar alcohols... Anyhow, it's *to die for*, and it's 5 points on weight watchers, if anyone cares.
Another low carb option at OG is their Mixed Grill. Have it without the potatoes, extra veg, and it's less than 10 CHO as well. |

Hmmmm, but did they take the calories out? I'm still watching my weight in addition to my BG.
The Mixed Grill sounds like another good choice, though! Thanks!
