| | | Mexican food ? I am going out to eat with my Red Hat ladies in a couple of hours. We are eating at Don Pablos. Besides the fact that I am not overly fond of Mexican food, I have no idea what will be OK for me to eat. I tried to find it online, but did not come up with a carb count for their food. Any suggestions?

| | | Ive never been to that particular restaurant but when we go out for Mexican I either get the fajitas and not use the flour tortillas that accompany it. I forgo the Mexican rice and have a small serving of refried beans instead as it doesn't affect my numbers as much as the rice. The other option I sometimes use is to get the taco or fajita salad. It's filled with lots of tasty salad stuff and has the meat and cheese. It's usually served in a large fried flour tortilla "bowl" that I choose not to eat. I find that I can still enjoy the occasional Mexican meal without getting my blood sugars all out of whack if I chose one of those options.

| | | WOW Just found a nutrician site for Don Pablo! A Caesar chicken salad is 85 carbs! I may just get a steak and side salad.

| | Had a great time talking with my bunch of ladies......the food is another story. I admit I was in the minoriity, since I am not crazy about Mexican food. It was all too spicy/hot for me. Their vegetables were very good though, and the food was not too expensive, service about average. I had a combo plate with beans and veggies, and ate little of the Tortilla wrapped around the 3 enchilatas (sp?). I was still pretty high 2 hours later (200), but am down to 112 now. Over all, I would have been happier overindulging in carbs at Wendy's or with pizza.
