| | | YOu make a good point, I did also add ketchup to the burger -- that was it, though. I didn't measure out exactly one serving, so it's possible it could have been more.
That could have thrown it off a little bit.
The strange thing is, I've had burgers before (NOT on the thins, but on a regular Wendy's bun, or on one of those Nature's Own Whitewheat buns without nearly as much trouble.
Thanks for the responses. I'm not saying those sandwich thins aren't good.. they just aren't good for ME, apparently.

| | | FINAL updates, I found out pretty conclusively tonight that it was the sandwich thins. I had about the same number of carbs for dinner tonight (maybe 25g or so) but I had them in mashed potatoes and tortilla chips. I only got up to 119 at my peak (testing every half hour).
I feel much better knowing that it isn't something worse. And, I just won't eat any more of those sandwich thins. :P
Also, I'm glad that I can eat mashed potatoes (in moderation). hehe.
Thanks for all you guys responses.

| | Experimenting with the Arnold's Sandwich Thins I'm living dangerously here, Jeremy.
I took the top half of one of the multi-grain Sandwich Thins, toasted it, and slathered it with Omega-3 Crunchy Peanut Butter yesterday for my first meal of the day. My very first peanut butter toast since dx...my favorite breakfast meal in the past.
Although that was technically breakfast, it was also nearly noon when I ate it. Slept in 'til almost 11. Since I'm v-e-r-y carb sensitive in the AM, I had no idea how my BG would respond to this...but I usually have breakfast much earlier - about 7 AM.
Anyway, here are my results:
BG upon eating (FBG): 102
BG at 90 min. pp: 126
BG at 2 hrs pp: 114
BG by 2 hrs, 30 min pp: 100
I'm certain the peanut butter had much to do with how I responded to the bread. Acceptable results, but not for every day.
I'll have to try it again, but much earlier to determine if it's a viable breakfast alternative on a work day or just a weekend breakfast treat.

| | | Nice, that doesn't sound too bad. I got roughly the same results with some peanut butter on some of those whole wheat saltine crackers a few days ago. (10g carbs per 5 crackers)

that's 7.8 mmol/l. i aim for under 8mmol/l at my 2-hr pp. | I agree - I've been told if I could be under 160 2 hours after eating, that was OK.

| | | Wow, Jer.. It sure seems the Sandwich Thins aren't for you. It seems like your tests are pretty conclusive. If it's any help -- I only ever use a half of one -- since I don't miss the top part of any bun anymore... Some days --not a peep and others a 30 point jump.. Boy it just goes to show you how the term YMMV really is true when it comes to food choice. I too have little problems with a small portion of mashed potatoes. But BOY does fruit send me thru the roof. I would agree that Sandwich Thins aren't for you.
If I were you and I would suggest this for any of us.. The Supplement r-ALA has been making a difference for everyone's that's tried it and reported it of late. VickiNC and MCS most recently. It seems they get a greater range of food choice on it too.
You are also on a minimal dose of Met too -- that's part of the equation in food spike levels. The Met puts a solid CAP on my highs for sure.. The only time I really cheated bad of late was at a church dinner recently and I had some Sarah Lee Chocolate cake for dessert and french fries with my meat for dinner.. You all know me and my 135-160 'normal' range -- well 1hrPP was 155 and 2hr pp was 163 and 3 hr (bedtime) was 141... So even when I eat 'like I used to' 1000mg of Met puts a cap of 160-165 on me. |

| | | I often wonder if those burgers that fast food restaurants make are full of grain as well as beef. Does anyone know?

| | | Don't know about all of them, obviously. But, Wendy's says their single consists of: "Hamburger Patty Ground Beef. Seasoned with Salt." McDonald's website says "100% Beef Patty - 100% pure USDA inspected beef; no fillers, no extenders. Prepared with grill seasoning (salt, black pepper)."
