Hi,

I recently did my Vitamin D and it was 17. Below 30, it's low. I have recently started taking Vitamin D2 supplements and am seeing visible fasting sugar improvements by atleast 4 to 5 points everyday. I am not really sure if it's Vitamin D supplements that's helping or something else.

Does anybody know if low Vitamin D contributes to elevated blood sugar?

Thanks!

I am not sure but it has been implicated in type 1 and Type 2.

Mine is up to 70. I take 4000 IU per day!

It's probably something else that you are doing that is giving you better sugar readings. You are not very likely to absorb vitamin D2. You should switch to D3, which is readily used by the human body.

You should be taking oil based D3. Don't bother with a tablet, it must be a gel capsule with oil in it to get the benefit.

If you live near Trader Joe's, they sell them for a good price. Costco has huge bottles of various brands. Look for one with olive oil, not soy, as soy is not so good for you.

not to hijack this thread but Im taking vit D3 gelcaps for a year now

and since reading this I looked and they are made with soybean oil and gycerin corn oil

my FBS have been starting to go up every time I go to get jabbed

6-09 137
8-09 122
10-09 102
1-10 106
7-10 103
11-10 115
6-11 121
12-11 124!!!!! I started taking the vit d 1-11 yet the FBS started to go up 11-10 so I really doubt that it has anything to do with the vit yet it keeps going up

at least the a1c is good 5.8 as of dec

any thoughts on this

thanks all

For me, the problem with oil based Vitamin D is that - they are all made of fish oil and I don't eat fish. One that I found is vegan - from "Super Supplements" in Seattle area.

Probably the same reason why I take D3 and not D2. I did not find any vegetarian D3. I am now thinking to give this a shot for the 2 months and then do my Vitamin D blood report and see if there is any improvement and take it from there. How often do you see any improvements? Are two months enough?

Thanks!

This is the one I use. It's vegan:

If you know any oil based capsules that are vegetarian, please let me know.

Thanks!
