Decreased Insulin Usage

In the past three weeks I've noticed a fairly significant decrease in my insulin rate. I've gone from a 1 unit to 12 carb ratio to 1 unit to 18 carb ratio. (I think I may have to decrease it even more) I'm not complaining but has this happened to anyone else?

Well, I'm not T1.5 but yes, it's happened to me, the first time was a couple months ago I think? It lasted for a few days before it went back to normal. It happened a second time for a week or so, starting 2 weeks ago... I was so sick of being low and treating it, even after adjusting doses, I posted my frustrations with it here. I still can't figure it out, I don't know if there's a pattern when my insulin sensitivity is increased or what! Do you see any pattern? I'd love to know if there's something you think might be going on! I assume there isn't anything different in your life/routine that could explain it?

Yes, but it was because I lost a lot of weight. As the weight came off, my insulin needs decreased. I started pumping with a 1:10 ratio for lunch and 1:8 for breakfast & dinner. Now it's breakfast 1:16; lunch 1:22; dinner 1:18 and I think some/all of them might need to be riased since I've been having more lows 2 hours after eating. My basal rates have all decreased as well, by about 1/3.

Well there doesn't seem to be (in my case) any specific reason for this suddent decrease. I have had times previously where it's been a temporary situation, but this time it's lasted 3 weeks and counting.

I have lost weight since my diagnoses but nothing significant recently. I can't see a pound or two making that much of a difference

Your metabolism's changing as the seasons do. Everyone generally needs less insulin in the summer, regardless of whether or not they're actually eating less or exercising more. You're actually quite late - there were a whole flurry of threads with people having the same thing happen during the last week of March.
