| | | My endo tells me that it is because the muscle tissue comes much closer to the surface within 2 inches of the navel (less fat tissue to inject into) and that will make it more painful. I am perhaps 5 or 6 lb's over ideal weight, but being female have belly fat outside that circle. Why risk extra pain if I don't need to?

| | | I inject in my butt, lower leg, abdomen (about 2 inches below the belly button and anywheres up to 4-5 inches on either side), and occasionally in the back of the upper arm. It all seems to work well for me! |

| | Anywhere on my belly where i can pinch enough- even though i'm overweight, i do pinch... Favourite places being about 5cm below my bellybutton, a little bit diagonally below actually... On both sides... And then further and further out to the sides as long as i can reach really... Only just recently i finally dared to try leg injections, so these days i take my Levemir in my thigh almost every day Sometimes i inject in my arm too But i really don't get how people can REACH their butt to inject

| | | I hit the belly, all over, but avoid within 2 in of the BB as it stings, behind my upper arms on the back side, the inside of my thighs, I have injected in my chest, but that is not my favorite of places, so, not too often, the sides, but that CAN be tender, I have caused bruises when injecting my sids more often than not.
I am very muscular on my hiney, so, I do not jab there, tried that once and it was so sore, my eyes crossed.

I simply can't hold the pen comfortably and inject on the bum I've tried sometimes for fun to just put a needle on my pen and tryout some different spots that could be used for injections, and when it comes to bum, seems my back is too stiff or something
And btw... i'm only using 8mm needles

If you were injecting a bolus (and it was correct), then you'd be eating to cover the insulin right away (or soon) in any case. Or, does all the insulin hit immediately so that you don't have time to eat? |

| | | My favorite "new spot" is the side waist...the "love handle" area. My endo told me that was an excellent spot due to fat...she also told me the upper inner thigh which I've tried. It doesn't hurt but is not terribly convenient.
I seem to have more tummy and upper arm fat than legs...so I rarely inject in my front thighs like I used to do...
Who thought fat would be so beneficial? |

| | | I need more flexibility before I might be able to do a bum shot. I'd like to though, my view of it is if I can get some fat pinched up, I use it. There isn't much sense in confining oneself to a small area, spread it around to avoid too much repeated trauma in a tiny area. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
