at the dr again

Well i was at the dr's yesterday...And my labs came back not where the doc liked them..so she deceided that i need an intense insulin therapy..so she pulled my orals and i am now on insulin 4 times aday..the lantus at bedtime and humalog 3 times aday..so maybe with this it will get my numbers where they are better..but like she said the test my pancreas is almost gone..I had no clue to this..this is all still new to me..but at least i have a doc that knows what she is doing and that makes me feel good to know

I am glad your doctor is on top of this...I think you will love the insulin once you get used to the learning curve. I use the pens and feel free as a bird!

Take a good carb counting course at your local hospital or nutritionist (not to be confused with the "diets")...

Good luck!

I hope you will love how the insulin can control you better. I know two Type 2 (maybe 1.5) people who hate the idea of a shot so bad, they won't follow their doctor's advice on trying some insulin. The shots are nothing compared to how much better they make you feel.

the only thing i didnt want to hear was gain weight I lost like alot went from a size 20 to a size 5/6 and i love it but she wants me to gain 10 lbs,,i dont want to i havent been this size since i had my first son

Insulin is awsome! From my limited knowledge and short time with D, I've put on a few pounds but I think it's because one has more freedom with insulin, you know, bolus for that extra slice of pizza and beer.

you wont believe how much better you will feel! a carb counting course would be a huge advantage as then is takes the guesswork out of things, and you will be less likely to have hypos.
regarding the weight thing, my personal take on it is that if you are eating a healthy diet and only taking the correct amount of insulin to the carbs you eat then you shouldnt put on weight.
my advice is not to worry about the weight , just concentrate on getting your insulin sorted for now.

i put on ten pounds during my first 6 months on insulin. i lost it again recently going lower carb.

so dont stress, just enjoy feeling well again!

Congratulations are in order! You will love being on insulin. You can eat like a person. I had some initial weight gain (hyears ago- mostly from feeling free and pigging out), but I've gotten to a stable weight (though I would still like to lose 10-15 pounds- but at least I'm not gaining). Exercise is still important- it is really the key to weight control. Well, that and eating less

If you cut out 100 calories per day, all else being equal, you will lose 10 pounds in a year. Or so "they" say.
