Levemir Question.

Hi all,
I have just changed over to mdi recently and am now on Levemir and Novorapid and an getting great numbers now.
However, I find that after taking a basal shot I get itching of the skin pretty much all over. No rash or reddening, just itching. It is driving me nuts. Is this something that anyone else has experienced or could it be a combination of the new insulin and pregnancy hormones?
Any opinions gratefully received.
Thank you.

Heather.

Heather,
I am a pumper but I remember someone else asking about itching 3 or 4 weeks ago. Search through old threads & see if it was related to the insulin. That would be annoying to have something that's working well cause problems.

Are you using different pen needles with it?

Two pens and needles are different.
I vaguely remember a thread about itching. Was that Levimer?

I was really itchy while pregnant with my son. My doc's chalked it up to the extra testosterone running through my system. Who knows if that was it, but it went away after I had my son.

Now, of course, they theorize that I'm allergic to testosterone or male sperm, since I've had multiple miscarriages and only one son with 4 daughters afterwards...who knows?

I remember a friend of mine also being itchy while pregnant and she ended up having some problem with her liver. You might want to ask your OB for advice too.

I can get rashless itching if i get an antibiotic i'm allergic to. when it happened some years ago, it was so bad i had to be given cortisone IV... Luckily i was already in the hospital at that time... So it could be some kind of allergic reaction maybe...
