didnt know they had t1.5 but...

i was diagnosed at 28 yrs old. over the years docs tried me on many diff pills for it. my bs was barely effected by the pills. insulin is the only thing that does help control my bs. does this make me fall into a type 1.5 category?

Has Type 1 been ruled out for you?

The best way to find out exactly whether you're a type 1 or a type 2 is by having a C-Peptide test done.

I was 40 years old (43 now) when I was dx'd with type 1 through a C-Peptide test. I also have a younger brother (41) who was dx'd when he was 21 and a strong family history of diabetes on my father's side of the family.

I believe type 1.5 really is a form of type 1.

I'm a type two and oral meds don't do diddly for me and I'm on insulin and about to start mdi. It doesn't change the fact that I'm type 2 it just means I just need a more direct means of control. You may well be LADA or 1.5 but just 'cause your on insulin doesn't neccesarily change what category you fall into.
