| | | what to expect? Hi
Dr. suspects I'm 1.5. I'm healthy and very fit and active...borderline underwt.
I've had chronic/nearly continuous vaginal yeast infections for over 2 1/2 years...since sept/03!!! been checking fasting bs for a month and they are averaging between 105 and 129 usually. My vision has become blurry at times more often...not just up close reading, but the far stuff also. Did blood work yesterday, and my appointment is may 11th. What should i expect to be the first step, if in fact tests show i'm 1.5? thanks for you input...btw, anyone here see Dr. Ron Rosedale? |

| | sunshine, that is something you and PCP will have to work out between you.
My guess, they'll start you on meds first, if needed, then eventually switch you insulin, again, as needed.
In many ways, you'll be treated just as a T2.
you have to understand, this is a new classification and the Drs. are sorta feeling their way
around this new phenom.
I always wonder a couple of things
1. how does it feel to be walked on Quote:
I'm walking on sunshine , wooah
I'm walking on sunshine, woooah
I'm walking on sunshine, woooah
and don't it feel good!!

2. how does it feel to be sent away? Quote:
Sunshine go away today
I don't feel much like dancing
Some man's gone, he's tried to run my life
Don't know what he's asking

| | Hey there!!
Yeah, it's tough to say what to expect, I would think (if you are type 1.5) that they'd start with medication and advice/education on better meals and stuff, get you testing your blood sugar and tracking what you eat to get an idea how things affect you.
Track the changes, stay healthy, enjoy the "honeymoon" and hope it lasts as long as possible.... There seem to be lots of theories on how to help this happen, most that I've read seem to involve getting on insulin sooner rather than later to assist your still functioning pancreas. I think the medications are more geared towards type 2... but I am no expect and might be wrong.
Glad you found the forum, it should be a huge help.

| | | My understanding was that people with type 1.5 experienced more highs after eating than fasting. My fasting blood sugars were always pretty normal. I shot up whenever I ate anything though, only to have my blood sugar crash down hours later. I started on insulin with meals first, then added Lantus, and I'm on a pump now. I never did pills.
Just because you are thin doesn't mean you can't have insulin resistance, though it makes it much, much less likely. I suspect they will do a GTT and insulin levels. |

has anyone read The Rosedale Diet? Is it useful? | My post meal blood sugars ran from 200-600 with no pattern whatsoever. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
