New Here--1st Post

Hi All,
I just found this website and am new here. I am 30 years old, have had T1 since I was 15 yrs old and am 16 weeks pregnant. I have had a pump for about 8 years now. What girls can you tell me about being pregnant and having T1? My dr. has told me that before meal glucose needs to be 95 and one hour after 140 or below.
My question to you is what do you girls do if your above 140 after meals...of course besides take more insulin?
The other day my sugar was 305...i think that something was wrong with my pump, but still that was a high reading and it freaked me out a little because Im pregnant.
What tips or advice can you girls give me about being pregnant and having T1?

I'm the other gender but some things work the same for both!

Test often, eat fewer carbs, do some basal testing to see if the pregnancy has made any changes to your needs in that regard.

Oh, and relax. Stress is the worst!

Picked any names yet?

Hi Jess, welcome to the forums. Can't offer any pregnancy advice, but i'm sure some of our "moms" will weigh in with advice soon.

Hi there! Congrats on becoming pregnant! It is a journey, I must say, I have had 2 children and working on our 3rd at the moment. I have had T1 diabetes since I was 4 years old, now 31yrs, and I have been pumping for 5 years now. I maintained excellent A1c's during both of my pregnancies mainly due to my eating regime. I ate foods I knew how my body reacted to, basically eating the same types of foods for each meal. Example, breakfast was always cereal + fruit +milk+ cheese, lunch was always some type of sandwich and dinner was usually a salad of some sort with a chicken breast, you get the picture. I ate predictable foods so I didn't have unpredictable blood sugars.
Hope that gives you some food for thought, literally!
Cheers
PS, don't sweat the small stuff, ie one high BG, the key is consistency and we can't be the perfect pancreas all the time.
