| | | Thanks guys for all your kind wishes. Amy is a dream, sleeps most of the time, only wakes once during the night for a feed. Unfortunately breastfeeding hasn't happened for me. I jsut haven't produced any milk, have tried expressing but no luck. To be honest the last few days I haven't had the time to try to express and Amy is such a contented baby I'm not worrying myself about it. As long as she is healthy and happy thats al that matters to me.
Will tr to post a pic on here of her as soon as I can.
Love to all
Sarah & Amy

| | Hi Folks. I am new to this forum but I have just been reading through all the posts. Sarah - Congratulations! It is so heart warming to hear such a wonderful story with such a happy ending.
My husband and I are about to meet our IVF Dr for the first time in a few weeks. We live in the Middle East so that in it's self is daunting!!
But reading your story has given me both goose bumps and hope. Thank you and congratulations again to all three of you. |

| | | Hi,
Your blood sugars are fantastic, being 1.5 must also help but if I had sugars like that my doctors would love me, I believe they are non diabetic results also...Well done.. |

| | My ivf journey Well this was a great site to find, I am so happy someone started this thread.
I may start a new one on the same topic or see how many type 1 diabetics are currently undergoing ivf? I find it hard enough to meet ppl who have type 1 let alone another person also undergoing ivf.
I got onto a pump just before my ivf journey, around 3 weeks I think. My bs was everywhere, the thing I have found with the pump is that even though my hba1c has improved and generally my bs better controlled, when things go wrong (which happens often) such as blockages, leaks, kinks etc they go wrong quick and even though I test around 8 plus times a day I can still go up to 20 plus and I never went that high on needles.
I ended up with OHSS after my transfer and could not take the HCG and was given pressaries but was told in the end not to take them because it became so severe, my kidneys and liver became very affected and I gained over 11 kilos and looked nine months pregnant.
I am just going to do my first FET, I am very nervous.
I got 22 eggs.
19 fertilised with ICSI
16 made it to day 3
7 made it to blastocyst
1 transfer that did not work due to OHSS and next week at some stage having two frozen transferred.
I am very concerned about having twins and my health but especially the babies health, I was told that two would have a higher success, I think I need to trust them, so that is what I will do.
This has taken so much work, I have my yearly check up at RPA on Thursday. I need good news so I hope it goes well.
I want to keep moving forward but it is sooooo exhausting especially emotionally when it does not work out how you expected. I know I did not expect six days in hospital vomiting and gastro and feeling like I want to die.....
My hba1c before pump was 8.9 and the last one 7.4 after two months I think, I love the pump.... It does take a bit of work but I am getting use to it.
I will post how the frozen transfer goes.

| | | Alex born last Saturday at 29 weeks in a spontaneous delivery. He didn't wait for the induction. We had an 11 hour labor without epidural and with gas and epistiotomy. He was 334g at birth and after a rough start in the special care nursery with low blood sugars is now at home doing beautifully. I had difficulty establishing breastfeeding. My milk didn't come in until day 10 even after expressing with a double pump after each feed. The milk finally came in at day 10 and I have been breastfeeding successfully now. My blood sugars were good during labor with the insulin drip and didn't go above 10. Immediately after birth, my insulin needs dropped about 75% and I stopped requiring snacks to eat every 2 hours, something that I had to do throughout the pregnancy.

| | | New Type 1 and trying IVF again Hi ladies,
Im new to this forum, found it while searching for info on IVF and T1. Glad to see there are women just like me.
First, congrats to all that had success with IVF. And thanks Sarah for getting this started.
Im married with a 12yr old daughter form a previous relationship. I've been married for 6yrs, together for 10yrs. We've had bumps in the road like not being able to have a child together. I had some unknown tubal issues that developed after I had my daughter, prior to meeting my husband. After we married and TTC, I decided not to waste time with an OB and saw my RE. We had all the testing done. My husband has "perfect" sperm count, etc! Me, I found out about my tubal issues. I developed a blockage & scarring on both sides that were beyond unblocking. Ultimatley I had to get them removed and was told IVF was my ONLY option of having my own child(again)!!! I cried and so did my husband. I am only 30 and was told this horrible news when I was 24!!!
So, living in PA has is up but the downs seems to overshadow the ups. I have NO FERTILITY coverage as there is now mandate/law! My husband and I decided to pay for IVF in 2007, shortly after having my tubes removed. A whopping $12,000.....yes.
Make a long story short, we tried 3 rounds of IVF. 2 ended up being canceled due to poor response to the meds since I only produced 5 very immature follicles each time. Each canceled cycle didnt cost just the wasted meds that cost! The 3rd time was a bit better with 6 follicles, 3 eggs retrieved, 2 fert and got negative results. That was 4/15/08. I was in denied I guess. I was having weird symptoms 3 wks later like frequent urinating, very thirsty and tired. Im thinking those results from the beta were wrong. So I made an appt with my family dr and told her my symptoms, about the IVF results and she said "sounds like diabetes". So I got bloodwork done that day, next day.....My dr told me to leave work ASAP, went in and was told my A1C was 9.2 and was given my 1st insulin shot at 28.
I now take 10U of Apidra with each meal and 12U of Lantus @ night. Im still finding out what works best for me. I've always been slim, not a "snacker"....salt is my BF! Type 1 runs on both sides of my family so I was bond to get it. It skipped my mom and dad and they passed it to me....thanks mom and dad.
So, Im about to start IVF again and hope to try some new protocol AFTER I sell my house that I just put on the market(oh a rental property). I know this is long so Im gonna cut it now. Oh, I meet with my RE on Monday to discuss the T1 and IVF, etc!!! I will try to update. Any info is helpful And I got my A1C down to 6.9 | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
