| | | Hi Sarah, Glad to here that your cycle is going well.
I thought I might have to cancel because my blood sugars are a bit out of control at the moment for the last 2 days. They are jumping all over the place with variations of my Levemir of 50% and drops of 35 points in 30 minutes. I nearly went to hospital the day before yesterday and yesterday for the blood sugar drops so it has been a bit of a rollercoaster.
I will hang in there. I'm hoping that these symptoms of going of the pill will stabilise today. If they stabilise then we will continue with the IVF cyle.

| | | hi
I think the fertility drugs do have quite an effect on blood sugar levels. Like I have said before my levels seem to be lower than usual. These drugs are playing havoc with our hormones. All I can suggest is that you test regularly. I'm probably testing about 8 times a day . The evenings are quite bad for me, my sugars drop very quickly after my evening meal so I amcurrently lowering my insulin intake every few days until I am happy.
Going for a scan tomorrow to see how my folicles are developing. Will let you know how I get on.

| | It sounds like you are looking forward with your scan. I hope the scan goes well and you get lots of follies.
I'm finally on top of things. It was my novorapid that dropped 45% suddenly. My Levemir went back up to 100% last night. Dropping my novorapid down helped immediately so I think I'll be all right now. It was because I am a newbie I haven't had many drops in my novorapid or experiences that I didn't identify or was on top of the problem straight away. I was on 7 units Novorapid for dinner. I took 4 1/2 units last night so I sorted it out. It's so stressful doing IVF. But I think we are on our way. I started the purgeon last night.

| | | IVF is incredibly stressful.
I am more relaxed this time than I was on my first attempt!
I'm so glad you have got your control in hand. It would be such a shame to cancel your cycle when you have come so far .
Have you had any hot flushes?
I have also become very tired. My boyfriend laughs at me in the mornings as I am waking up tired! I have also been nodding off on the sofa at about 8pm which annoys the heck out of him as I do snore a little!!! |

| | Hi Sarah. I hope your going well with you FSH. I have had a few symptoms with the syneral. I confuse the hot temperatures with hypos sometimes.
This lady had similar problems to with with blood sugars on the hormones for IVF as me. I'm glad that was figured out. Quote:
You have this terror, on the two week wait for the p test after transfer, not knowing if you are pregnant or not, if your BSL is high at all (for me high means 10 or more) that you may damage the baby if it is in there growing. It feels so incredibly crucial to be perfectly controlled but with the hormones I have been higher than normal and I feel a bit out of control. I so need to be in control, that is my nature.
The next cycle I had some bizarre highs (like 12.8 before breakfast??) and lows (1.8 2 hours after dinner) and we got a low positive pregnancy result but then a negative. Number 3 transfer was the best controlled I had been but still a low positive followed by a negative.
It's weird to go through this to just get pregnant in the first place- knowing it will be the same when i do get pregnant (and I will say when not if). I have my 4 injections a day for diabetes; but now add two nasal sprays, another injection per day (so total 5!), related supplement tablets and all the blood testing. Then the egg collection anaesthetic to contend with, post op bloating and pain etc.

| | | Went for scan on Friday. Folicles growing nicely and going back on Monday for another scan.
Diabetic team want to put me on a CGMS before I go on the pump but IVF consultant has said no to the CGMS until after the embryo transfer. Will probably not do CGMS and go straight to pump.
Went to a pump awareness meeting this morning and met other pump users, very informative.
Looking forward to pump treatment if it gets my sugars even lower. |

| | | Have been to the hospital again today for another scan. All is looking good.
Have about 15 folicles growing on one ovary and 6 on the other. I wiil have more folicles than a normal person due to my polycystic ovaries.
Nurses are happy with my progress and hinted that I may be ready for embryo transfer next Monday!
Going back this Thursday for another scan to check the progress. |

| | | 15 follies is great news Sarah. You must be happy about that. It won't be long.
I had a blood test on the 5th day of stimming. The nurse that rang up after the blood test said that my E2(levels that measure the amount of eggs) was really low about 130. So it's possible I am not responding due to being on the pill too long before my treatment. I will have to wait until Thursday to see what happens if cycle is cancelled or E2 levels rise and the EPU goes ahead.

| | | Have been struggling a bit today.
Woke up at 5am with stomach pains. Felt like I'd been kicked in the stomach and had stabbing pains like someone was poking a needle into my stomach.
On reading my IVF package notes it said that this can be a symptom of ovarian hyper stimulation. This is where the body goes into overdrive and mass produces folicles. If not monitored this can be very dangerous and IVF treatment can be halted. They advise you to drink 3 litres of water a day and eat lots of protein rich foods.
I'm feeling a bit better now and have been drinking lots of fluid today. Will be having a scan tomorrow to check my progress. I'm confident everything will be ok, you can't expect to put all theses drugs into your body without any side effects can you? |

| | | Hi Sarah. Sorry to here you aren't well. One of the signs of OHSS is finding it hard to breathe just so your aware of it. I hope you feel better soon.
We had a scan today. 5 follicles 10-15mm and 3 little follicles present as well. I was a little surprised but no complaints. Feeling good about doing EPU in about 5 days.

| | | Glad to hear things are going well for you.
I too have had some exciting news today. I went for a scan today and I do have rather a lot of folicles. I have been booked in to have my embryos taken out on Monday! I'm soooo excited.
I will be the first patient of the day because of the diabetes. You have to not eat for at least 2 hours before the procedure so diabetics taken priority. i will have food and insulin after the procedure.
The nurse did take a blood test because of the amount of folicles I have produced and the pain I ahve been in to check that i am not hyper stimulating.
Thay are going to phone me tomorrow to confirm my booking for Monday and to tell me the blood results.
If all goes to plan I will have the embryos transferred back into me on Thursday and will know around the 19th February whether I am pregnant or not.
Good luck with your follies!

| | | Good luck with EPU Sarah. Nice to know that they are going to put you in first. Let us know how you go.
How did you go remembering to take your injections? I have a terrible memory from the diabetes so this was a problem. I ended up buying 4 alarm clocks and they go off whenever my injections are due.
