I had no problem remembering to take my injections. I do my insulin ones as normal then at 6pm each night my fertility drugs! Maybe you're using different drugs to me?

Yay Sarah on your last injection. Good luck!

My bolus carb to insulin ratio changed for the 2nd time in this cycle last night. But I was pretty fast to keep it between 4 and 9mmol. My Novorapid bolus dose went from 5 u to 9u for 60g carbs at dinner. I went to bed on 7.4mmol. I also got up at 3.00am and my blood sugar was was 8.4mmol which meant the basal changed again. So took a small correction dose and went back to bed. I have a scan and blood test tomorrow and EPU will probably be around Wednesday or Thursday.

I think I might go on your drugs next time!

Checking back in to see how EPU went Sarah. I hope that the anesthetic was nice and you got lots of eggs today.

Hello

Have just got back from hospital. Everything went brilliantly.

15 eggs collected (only 5 previously), so am having 8 treated with ICSI and 7 by IVF.

Anasthetic was fine, had a lovely sleep and took about an hour to come around but no mad side effects like last time.

Will be getting a phone call tomorrow am to tell me how things have gone overnight and when I'll be having embryos transferred.

Great news Sarah. It sounds like you got a good amount of eggs.
The nurses told me I probably have EPU on Friday. My scan yesterday showed there will be about 5 or 6 at the right size then to be picked up. So looking forward to Friday.

Sarah and Mazea, I keep checking this thread to see how you two are doing. I am thinking of you both and hoping for good things. I am glad that you have been able to connect with each other through the forums. I think there are others who have been keeping an eye on this thread. Good luck girls!

Thanks Anne, I have found it very comforting knowing that there are other people in the same circumstances as myself.

If this thread can help others in the future then all the better.

More excellent news.

Have just received a call from the hospital. Of the 8 eggs they treated with ICSI 5 have fertilised overnight and of the 7 they treated with IVF another 5 have fertilised!

I'm so happy !

After only having a couple of eggs last time this is excellent news.

The hospital will phone me 9am Thursday to tell me how they have progressed over the 3 days. If they want to do the embryo transfer then I shall be at the hospital by 10am. Depending on how well the eggs have developed they may choose to impant them on day 5 which is called Blastocyst.

Blastocyst is where the cells have started to organise themselves into a predicted pattern around a fluid filled cavity which usually happens around day 5. Blastocyst makes it easier to select which embryos have the most potential to implant.

p.s.it's snowing!!

How many would you plan to implant? I worry about people who end up with any more than triplets...I just don't know how they do it!

They will only implant 1 or 2 then freeze the rest.

I won't know until the day how many they are going to do.

13 embies are good numbers Sarah. You have got a good result with your IVF. I think it is normal to put 1 or 2 embryos back in. DH and I are putting 1 embie back in as I don't want twins with my diabetes. It slightly lowers our chances for this cycle but not by much. My clinic has a good 5 day blast and freezing rate though so we can afford to grow out any embies and freeze them as FETS(Frozen embryo transfer). Hope your 2ww will be relaxing and go quickly. Thanks for your support everyone.

Well today was the day. I got a phonecall from the hospital at 9am to say thay wanted me in. By 10am we were there.

The embryologists went through the growth of my embryos with me and my boyfriend. She explained to us how they chart them each day by the number of cells they have split into, any fragmentation and how symmetrical the embryos are when they split.

She explained there were 2 embryos that stood out from the others and said they were 'text book embryos.' They had each split into 8 cells, had little fragmentation and had split symmetrically.

She also spoke to me about assisted hatching. Assisted hatching is where thay inject the embryo with a small amount of an acid solution which makes a small hole in the 'shell' of the embryo. This will help the embryo escape from it's shell and permit earlier contact between the embryo and the lining of the uterus.

My boyfriend and I decided to have the assisted hatching procedure and it will hopefully give us a better chance of becoming pregnant.

We were called into the operating theatre, me with a full bladder, and I lay in the chair. They showed us the 2 embryos they were going to implant on a lcd screen on the wall of the theatre and my boyfriend was allowed to take a picture of them on his mobile. After I had been prepared for the procedure they inserted the embryos. On the ultrasound screen beside me, we saw the embryos being inserted as a quick flash on the screen. I then lay on the chair for a further 10 minutes, I suppose to rest and let the lil embryos get comfy.

That was it, I was then allowed to go home which is where I am now, resting and taking it easy. I am to do a pregnancy test on the 21st Feb and during that time insert progesterone pessaries which will help keep my womb lining nice an thick.

Will keep you posted on how I am feeling etc.

Take care

Sarah
