BS targets in pregnancy

well my GP is clueless ("you're pregnancy won't affect your diabetes at all, just continue as you were")...

and my endo is on holiday.

so all i have is the web (and of course you lovely people!).

so tell me, what targets should i am for during pregnancy.

i'm looking for fasting, pre-meal, one-hour pp and two-hour pp.

thanks!

Hi--you should not been seen by your GP with that attitude.

Fasting and premeals: 70-99 mg/dl

One hour post meal: 140 mg/dl

Two hours post: back to 70-99.

Good luck--are you seeing a high risk OB or maternal-fetal medicine specialist for obstetric care?

thank you. there's so much variation on the web.

my gp said there's no need for me to see a high risk OB (as stated earlier, he's an idiot...case in point....he's still convinced that his initial diagnoses that i am type 2 is right, and that my endo is wrong.)

he has referred me back to my previous OB from my first child.

i'm sure my endo will put me on the right path, once she is back from holidays. she's a no-nonsense kinda doc.

ditch that GP and definitely get yourself a perinatologist! it sounds like you have good common sense and care about your health (and therefore asking for help) so it would be good to have a doc who's there for you (and knowledgeable!) should you need anything regarding pregnancy specifically. i have 2 ob-gyns (one "normal" care, one for "high-risk/diabetes" care)...couldn't be happier and or feel safer. good luck!
